Today was a fun day of reconnecting with some old friends. One long-time couple friends of ours had recently purchased a home out in Westminster, and so I went over for an afternoon BBQ, swim in the pool, and visit with them and their two kids.

Another couple friends of ours were also there with their twin boys, and so we actually had the backbone of what you could probably consider a few years worth of Alpha-testing for the Reliquum RPG. In fact, the homeowners and I had a number of long fun talks concerning the game and some of the secrets I’d never revealed to them they were “owed”. It sounds like all of them miss my Reliquum game (honestly so do I) so maybe we can find a way to all game together again.
I’d hoped we might get a chance to playtest Monomyth, as they would be a very good crew to test with, they being skilled storytellers all, but with no real magickal background themselves… so would their opinions would be valuable from a purely game-play appeal perspective, which the game has to stand on its own on… However, the twins were getting sleepy and so their folks had to bolt a little after dinner. I’m sure sooner or later we’ll all get the chance to try it out together, but it wasn’t in the cards tonight.
Jenny didn’t come with me to Westminster, as Soror Queaseitor In Pace was also planning to visit the house today. She’ll be leaving very soon to begin her first Fall semester at art school in Ohio, and so today was one of their last chances to really spend time together. They’d planned for a girl’s night anyway, so the BBQ was a nice way for me to not be a third wheel.
She’d initially planned to spend the night, but ultimately decided to hit the trail late in the evening. Still, I made it home in time to get a chance to visit with her for a little while before she headed home, which is always a delight. We’re both going to miss her like crazy once she’s gone, but I’m sure she’s off to spread some real magick into the world.
I’m particularly looking forward to my role in the presiding over of her, Enlil Ka Ahk, and Brother Alex’s Minerval initiation next month. I actually have a rehearsal for that this Sunday before Lodge.
But I’m sworn to secrecy and will say no more.

Shhhh…
