We ended up having a wonderful anniversary yesterday. It’s always nice for us to see my mom, and hanging out with Richard and Kerry is always a blast.

The place they suggested we visit together was the Valley of Terror in southern PA. It’s in the neighborhood of both Longwood Gardens and the Brandywine Museum which are also worth a visit if you want to make a day out of it.
Though the Halloween experience was a little on the pricy side, it was definitely entertaining, and many parts of their set-up were quite impressive.
It didn’t hurt either that an eerie mist came pouring into the valley while we waiting in line and just hung in the air over everyone’s heads… you can’t buy that kind of ambiance.
At the end of the night they surprised us both with birthday gifts, which was both unexpected and very touching. Jenny received a satin tarot card bag with the Ace of Cups embroidered on it, and I was given a shard of chestnut oak that was salvaged from a recently lightning-struck tree in their yard.
The bolt actually popped the shaft of wood right out of the damn tree. I plan to use it to create the shaft for my Fire wand. Honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a cooler gift.
I know that may sound like a weird thing to say for some, and an obvious one for others…
