So, I’m going to try to make this entry a short one… my attention is elsewhere…

In short, the recording session with Aaron and the Red Moon guys was a ton of fun. Everyone had a blast, and while I had a bit of a shaky start I soon got into the groove of things. Re-adapting to the old 2nd edition AD&D rules was a challenge, but not nearly as challenging as all the technical issues we ran into.

From issues with equipment, to issues with both Zencastr and Skype, we ended up being yanked out of the action on no less than four occasions in the 2 and a half hours worth of recording. Initially I was kicking myself I’d not been able to progress the story farther (the characters had only just arrived in the Nine Hells) but given the fact that everyone seemed to really like (and want to get into) their characters coupled with the fact that I basically had to keep starting over, all in all I probably did a pretty decent job.

In the awkward breaks between scenes everyone seemed to say so anyway…

Of course that’s left me with a huge mess to clean up to get the episode anywhere near listenable. Made worse by the fact that all those platform change ups meant that there ended up being all kinds of feedback on different tracks, and all kinds of other problems (like tracks overlapping when Zencastr split our call into two) that need fixing.

It’s a cluster-f, but assuming I can shave off all the junk and piece the rest together in a way that’s narrative-ly sound, we should have something pretty awesome here. Everyone seems into playing a second session, which we should be scheduling soon. Assuming we don’t have the same technical problems and can really start building some storytelling momentum, I have serious high hopes for part two.

Red Moon even partners with the music label Cryo Chamber for their ambient music tracks and have paved the way for me to perhaps incorporate some of this material into these episodes, and perhaps for the larger Blackspire show as well.

Plus the guys seem into the idea of recording more material to bridge certain scenes, flesh out characters, etc so I’ll be working on that as well. For now I’m just working to clean up the tracks so they’re listenable enough that it’ll work for one of their raw recordings.

I then need to figure out how, and in what form(s) the Blackspire treatment will take.

I also did a mock up for the promo of Adventure Hook episode 9 that we recorded last week (and I’ve yet to edit).

Not sure how I feel about it yet, but it’s a start at least…

I also hit 300 subscribers on my YouTube channel this week and I continue to get comments (both positive and negative) which is quite cool .My upcoming lecture in October is gnawing at me, but I feel like the podcasts are where I want to put my energy right now.

I feel like there was a darkness building of late that with today’s astrological event we should now be moving past.

Today’s a new moon eclipse in Leo while Mercury is retrograde, and today a big court case against Monsanto came through, and hopefully setting a precedent moving forward.

Coincidence? You know I don’t think that…
