So this week has been a blur, but the good kind of blur. The kind where I feel like I’ve made real progress and coming close to finalizing something pretty good.

This week marked the Patreon release of Adventure Hook: Episode 25 “The Portrait Artist” which I have to admit isn’t my favorite episode we’ve done, but even so it still have a few nuggets of worthwhile material for the listener…

By comparison, the next episode #26 “Burn Down City Hall” I think is much stronger, and while no show is going to go perfectly, I think content-wise this one will prove a bit stronger…

Also… I don’t have to edit that one…

Aaron and I also discussed out upcoming Legend Lore “master class” and this time I’ll need to focus on creating a new “terror track” inspired by Van Richtren’s Guide to Werebeasts. Jenny and I are going camping in two weeks, and if I don’t get to this by then I may be spending an afternoon in the woods next to a campfire reading about werewolves…

Could be worse…

This week also marked the release of the next episode of Blackspire, and so once again I am quickly running out of material, as only S01E25 is left in the chamber…

Which at this point is fine. I’m still trying to hammer down another session date with Jim, and my plan for that is to record some extra “meta-game” material just for Patreon concerning his BISHAMONTEN character, and then we can jump into an Epilogue style session for his little kami ninja retainer character that will make up Episode 26, and the last show of Season 1.

I’ll then be taking a break from regular releases in iTunes, and will instead move everything currently Blackspire (both Raw actual-play, Side Sessions, and new character development sessions) to Patreon only stuff. I’m still debating periodically releasing little teasers of the Patreon-only stuff in the main feed to try and entice new supporters, but the idea is to be able to really take my time and record a bunch of new gameplay that will eventually all get edited into Blackspire Season 2… due out… whenever…

I’ll still keep up with regular Adventure Hook stuff, and in truth it’ll be a relief to not have to try and keep to that kind of production schedule for Blackspire anymore…

Not to say I probably couldn’t still though… if this week is any indicator…

The majority of my effort this week has been focused on getting more episodes of the the epic Planescape adventure I ran for the Red Moon Roleplaying guys finished. Synchronicity again seems to be in full force, as I still continually find ways to make the various Cryo Chambertracks I have sync up with the various low-key moments of the episodes, and the soundtrack of the Planescape: Torment video game to highlight either the more exciting/tonally appropriate scenes or the actual bits of flavor text I read from the original To Baator and Back AD&D module.

It’s taking a group of characters on a literal trip through Hell, but every second is like heaven to me…

I managed to complete Episodes 5 and 6 and even managed to get the majority of Episode 7 (the last) done as well. This last one has got to be the hardest of the bunch, as it has the most additional scenes that needed to be dropped in, as well as a handful of bits than needed to be re-recorded or otherwise tweaked. However, the part that had me the most nervous was making sure I used the Planescape music to its fullest potential (thematically speaking) and yet not reuse certain ones too much that they end up becoming stale… Still, that is how the original video game worked, as musical themes would regularly repeat themselves throughout play, and I think more than once I got some eerie sync ups to occur with that sort of thing…

Another week and I think I should have the entire thing ready for release in the Red Moon channel. I kinda can’t wait. I’m really proud of this one…

I also have a plan to do some portraits of each of the player characters from that adventure, and since the game was so old skool (and also because I talked about it in Adventure Hook 25) I’ve felt inclined to get back to my own roots, and plan to do each drawing in charcoal on newsprint. Maybe I can use them to serve as the basis of promotional art for the episodes… maybe I can sell each one on eBay one day if the desire is there… maybe I just feel like drawing.

I can, and I don’t do it enough, and I’m sure there are plenty of people who wish they could do what I can, and would draw their hearts out every day if they could. I’m enjoying the artistry of creating a “radio drama” podcast, but once I get this project wrapped up, I feel like doing something different for a while.

Plus I always loved working in charcoal. I’m looking forward to it actually…

And it’s a full moon today… time for the monthly Abundance ritual.

BRING. IT. ON!
