The Theosophical Society‘s Baltimore-based Lodge was founded in 1916 and Jenny and I were touched to have been invited to their 100 year anniversary party.

“The Friend” was there, and both she and Ann the program director had put together a number of resources, both about the Lodge’s earliest days, but also headlines from the year to put the time into perspective. We also met a bunch of new people, including a nice lady named Kimberly who’d assembled a playlist of music from that era to set the mood.
We began with a quick guided prayer/meditation by Ann, then dug into the nice spread of food they’d assembled for the party. Julian, an interesting chap I met during my last visit was there, and I talked a bit about my upcoming classes on Magick (starting next month… I gotta get my shit together on all that stuff) which he seemed excited to attend, so that was quite encouraging. Anyway, for the party we played a few trivia games also related to info from 1916, and Jenny and I ended up with the most points at the end of the night, so were awarded a prize of some really nice vedever and lavender soaps.
One of the exercises “The Friend” had suggested, was to write a haiku about the person next to you. Jenny had worn her new Icelandic raven claw earrings (Huninn and Muninn) to the party, and so decided I’d write my haiku about that (and her).

“The Friend” closed with a guided meditation to send the Light to anyone we know who might need healing. Whether she knew it or not, part of her visualization direction described what I’d call a “Group Kether” in this instance. Sound foundational thinking! I did think of a fellow magician who I know has been suffering (and spreading it around a bit…), so did my part to send some good mojo her way.
