I finally got back in touch with my other IIº Initiates to discuss my contribution for the feast we must host for our Initiation Ceremony on the 12th of March.

I’m personally not a huge fan of the dishes the Thelemic Cookbook recommends for this ceremony, and so I’ve proposed making a batch of my mother’s recipe for spinach pie. We’ll see, but I imagine it’ll be fine. Plus it’s delicious. I didn’t think I’d be posting recipes to this blog, but what the hell… I’ve never met a soul who tried a slice and didn’t like it.

Mom’s Spinach Pie

  • 2 10 oz pkgs of frozen chopped spinach (or 1 1/2 lbs fresh)
  • 2 T butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c chopped onion
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • 3 T butter or margarine
  • 3 T flour
  • 1 1/2 c milk
  • 1 1/2 t salt
  • 1/4 t pepper
  • dash nutmeg
  • 6 eggs, beaten
  • 8 oz shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 10 in piecrust, unbaked
  1. Cook spinach, press out all moisture and chop finely
  2. Saute onion and garlic in butter til golden, stir in spinach
  3. In saucepan, melt butter, stir flour and make a paste. Gradually add milk. Stir over low heat til bubbles and thickens
  4. Stir in spices, spinach mixture, eggs and cheese. Mix well.
  5. Pour in pie crust. Bake 40-45 min till puffed and firm to touch in center at 350º

And today, after a looooong hiatus, I went back to work on the Black Knight script. I finally managed to work out the rest of Chapter 1 and so now have the panel breakdowns and dialogue worked out through page 36.

Now I need to do all the panel descriptions, but this is progress compared to how I’d gotten stuck previously.
