So I’ve got my writing irons stirring deep in the fire right now, so I don’t want to distract from that too much today, so I’ll get right into it.

Richard wrapped up his recent bout of travels, and was kind enough to put together a pull quote I can use to promote my stuff.

“Robert Randle is one of the most creative people I know. And when he develops a game he dives deep into world-building, from detailed histories to working out the metaphysics of new magical systems. He brings his creations to life through the blood, sweat and tears that he breathes into them, and the results are unsurpassed.”

-Richard Kaczynski (Perdurabo: The Life of Aleister Crowley, Forgotten Templars, The Billionth Monkey)

I was quite honored and humbled, but still proud enough to use it to open the Blackspire trailer I’d more or less wrapped up some time ago, and finally put it out.

This week also marked the release of Season 1, Episode 5 of the Blackspire podcast. This is the first time the main PC character BISHMONTEN steps forth into the wider city of Blackspire and it was a bit of culture shock at first. I thought it was a fun episode, and while the characters certainly learned a lot, not a ton of stuff actually happens.

Next episode though, things start to heat up slightly, and by Episode 7 shit starts to go down. Which of course reminds me, I’m quickly catching up to the episodes I’ve got in the can, and soon I’ll need to get editing some new ones (I feel almost nervous to dive back in).

However, this week (before Aaron flew out for San Diego ComicCon) he and I recorded Episode 8 of Adventure Hook, which turned out to be a fun little scenario we dreamed up, and I even mocked up the teaser image we’ll use to promote the show in a few week.

I however am now deep, perhaps too deep, into crafting the backstories of the four PCs that will be run for the Red Moon Roleplaying guys in just a little over two weeks, and as usual, in my attempt to write some compelling character dynamics (and crossovers) over all four PCs, while still seeding enough Blackpire lore to serve as character motivation… undoubtedly I’m going to end up writing almost a short story for each player character before I get it where it’s workable.

That being said, assuming everyone actually does a recording of the part I write for them, it could end up some compelling content to open the show with. I really want to swing for the fences here though, and let’s be honest, show of my GM skills a bit. There are some really great GMs of actual-play shows out there all over, and I’d like to find a place among them, and listeners for my shows, and so maybe I need to go a little overboard… it’s a great opportunity and I like going overboard anyway… I’m thinking of it as a one-shot I’ll always be able to refer to as a great “portfolio piece” example of my work, so to speak…

I’ve got my work cut out for me over the next few days though… I gotta make it as awesome as I can, otherwise what’s the point..?

And in another of those weird quirks of fate, a question concerning Crowley and the occult (in reference to the game KULT: Divinity Lost) came up on the Red Moon guys’ most recent Q&A show, and there were some topics on that subject that they couldn’t quite answer. So… I commented with a few points, and even directed potentially interested listeners to my Magick 101 lectures. Quite apropos, as “Art & Magick, Comics & Gaming, and how they all tie together” is kinda my thing after all…

And things are all tying together quite nicely…
