The Thelemic Tea Ceremony and Equinox/Solstice Feast

A ritual by Frater Azamon Kith

Originally performed 6/18/16 at William Blake Lodge, O.T.O. in the Valley of Baltimore.

INTRODUCTION

The practice of blending Eastern and Western traditions in ceremonial magick is hardly a new concept, but now that the new Aeon is upon us, perhaps the time has come to de-mystify some of the more “exotic” aspects from both traditions, and focus primarily on the common elements and themes prevalent in both. This ritual attempts to blend certain of the more “Yang-like” Western approaches to ceremonial magick with the more “Yin-like” disciplines inherent in the Eastern Tea Ceremony (for at their root in the case of this ritual, both utilize Eucharistic magickal operations). It is worth noting that while this ritual goes into considerable detail in relation to the events surrounding it, there are no instructions for the performance of the actual ceremonial tea preparation. Both the Chinese and Japanese styles of Cha-do have ancient and longstanding traditions that cannot possibly be summarized for the purposes of this ritual. Those wishing to perform this operation are encouraged to first research this topic on their own before deciding how and in what manner tea should be prepared for this operation. Though it should technically be possible to perform a successful ritual with simple hot water and steeped tea bags… the beauty, power, and ritualistic nature of the traditional ceremonies (and coupled with traditional teas of additionally appropriate correspondences) cannot be understated, to the point where it may be more effective to seek out a participant already familiar with performing one of these ceremonies than it would be learning one of these traditions from scratch. That said, this or any other part of this ritual you should feel free to modify as you wish. It is my wish your local body may wish to adopt this ritual as a possible alternate ritual to be performed as one of the Feasts of the Times. This ritual can be performed on any of the Solstices of Equinoxes, with small but significant differences depending on the current season. In addition to celebrating the Sun and the Season, the ritual is specifically designed to strengthen bonds of fraternity through the mutual sharing of Abundance.

 

PREPARATION

Roles

PRT: Priest, dressed in a white robe, representing the Conscious Self. The masculine pronoun will be used to describe this role, though the magician’s sex need not be.

PSS: Priestess, dressed in a black robe, representing the Unconscious Self. The feminine pronoun will be used to describe this role, though the magician’s sex need not be. PSS is the practitioner who will need to be versed in ceremonial tea preparation.

R: Archangel Raphael, dressed in white or yellow (and trimmed in purple if possible) and has a Yellow Sash about his waist. He bears a Wand in his right hand and the I-Ching/Book of Changes in his left.

M: Archangel Michael, dressed in white or red (and trimmed in green if possible) and has a Red Sash about his shoulders like a stole. He bears a Sword in both hands and wears a Brush on a cord or ribbon about his neck. A consecrated sumi ink brush would be ideal for this purpose.

G: Archangel Gabriel, dressed in black or blue (and trimmed with orange if possible) and has a Blue Sash about her shoulders like a stole.  She bears a Chalice in her left hand and PSS‘s Cha-do Teapot in her right (gloved or upon lace). She carries within her Chalice water to be used for the tea ceremony. If possible, this water should have been previously “attuned” (for at least 24 hours) using gemstones of the appropriate correspondence to the main evening’s working (in our case: Wealth/Abundance, so citrine, pyrite, and/or fluorite are good choices).

U: Archangel Uriel, dressed in green or black (and trimmed in citrine, olive, and russet if possible) and has a Green Sash about her waist. She bears a Scythe/Sickle in her left hand and the Book of the Law in her right. Protruding from the pages of the book is a Tarot card which corresponds to the current Ritual. The Emperor for the Vernal Equinox, The Chariot for the Summer Solstice, Justice/Adjustment for the Autumnal Equinox, and The Devil for the Winter Solstice. About her neck on a cord or ribbon is a set of I-Ching coins/sticks.

P: The People (participants) represent the World and (at least on some level) identify with PRT. Men should wear some white and women some black (at least). Additionally, they should be divided up into four elemental groups, and ideally are sorted according to their natal birth sign, but an even distribution of participants between these four groups is preferred to “overcrowding” of any one element (table). As this ritual incorporates a feast it is proper that each participant bring a “pot luck” contribution to the meal, and “equal” portions of appetizers, entrees, beverages, and desserts should be divided up by all prior to the event.

 

The Temple

The Altar is set in the center of the room, upon which rest’s PRT’s Dagger, Wand, Cup, and Pentacle. There should also be a Chime, and at the center a previously prepared Object for charging/destroying (such as a honey jar and/or wealth candle, as is used in this Ritual’s example). There should also be two cradles to hold the copies of the I-Ching and the Book of the Law. Candles should also be set at the four corners of the Altar. Ideally their colors will correspond with the table they are most closely adjacent to. You will also want to prepare four types of incense which will each correspond to one of the four elements and a receptacle to burn them in. Four long tables radiate out diagonally from the altar.

The southeast table has a yellow tablecloth and from center to end bears the symbols of Libra, Aquarius, and Gemini. Upon this table are placed the appetizers, or any food that is particularly hot and wet.

The southwest table has a red tablecloth and from center to end bears the symbols of Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. Upon this table are placed the entrees, or any food that is particularly hot and dry. As needed, you may want to provide racks and sterno (or crockpots) to keep certain dishes warm throughout the event.

The northwest table has a blue tablecloth and from center to end bears the symbols of Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces. Upon this table are placed the beverages, or any food that is particularly cold and wet. It would also be prudent to make sure this table has a wine key or two handy as well.

The northeast table has a green tablecloth and from center to end bears the symbols of Capricorn, Taurus, and Virgo. Upon this table are placed the desserts, or any food that is particularly cold and dry.

On each table there should also be standard flatware and cups for eating and drinking, though participants are welcome to bring their own Chalices if they wish. However, at the heads of each table, a place for each of the Archangels should be set (though no chair is set out for any of them).

Somewhere in the east is an easel with ink and enough sheets of flash paper so that each of the People will be able to create their own personal sigil. Also placed nearby but out of the way should be six empty chairs.

Somewhere in the west is placed PSS‘s full Cha-do tea set, which will be used during the feast. This may also require a tray or small table as needed.

Along the eastern wall is the Throne of Air, which is colored yellow and bears the symbols of Air, Mercury, and Uranus upon or above it.

Along the southern wall is the Throne of Fire, which is colored red and bears the symbols of Fire, Sol, and Mars upon or above it.

Along the western wall is the Throne of Water, which is colored blue and bears the symbols of Water, Luna, and Jupiter upon or above it. PSS‘s full Cha-do tea set should be placed nearby but out of the way.

Along the northern wall is the Throne of Earth, which is colored green or black and bears the symbols of Earth, Venus, and Saturn upon or above it.

Note: on the below map, there is marked an edge of a circle, though that need not be physical for the purposes of this Ritual. Also there are twelve positions, labeled A-D and 1-4 at each of the four quadrants. These Positions are simply instructions for the purpose of blocking the practitioners’ movements throughout the Ritual.

 

 

 

 

THE RITUAL

As needed, PRT may greet The People outside the Temple space, explain the purpose of the ritual, assist in dividing them into their elemental groups, and enlist their aid in bringing in and placing the dishes atop the appropriate tables within (as well as any utensils needed to serve those dishes). While PRT is doing this, PSS should take this opportunity to light the four altar candles, smudge/incense (as desired), and make any final necessary preparations before the Ritual begins. When everyone is ready, PRT can then lead the participants into the Temple.

Opening (Banishing by Fiat)

PRT stands in Position 1A facing the Altar. PSS stands in Position 3A also facing the Altar. They stand in silence as they wait for the participants to become situated and settled at their proper tables.

The People, divided up by element, enter the Temple bearing their offerings for the feast. If you wish they may enter in the order of Air, Fire, Water, and then Earth, but this is not necessarily required. The food is placed on the appropriate tables and the People take their seats at their corresponding table, and wherever, possible each person should sit closest to their birth sign as space/participants allow.

PSS presents the Chime and PRT sounds it eleven times in the 333 55555 333 cadence.

PRT:  Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

P:  Love is the Law, Love under Will.

PRT:  Let it be our will that the energies raised tonight be directed towards the securing of our collective Abundance. For the wise know that they have already enough… that Abundance be not nigh, but now.

By the Oaths of Fraternity which bind us, may the success of one be the success of all, and may the success of all be yet more than the sum of its parts. And so, just as four magicians can do the work of double their number of single practitioners, tonight may the work of 1000 magicians find their successes once again doubled!

Here now set is the formula of miracles.

I cast now this circle in the name of the Most High, the TETRAGRAMMATON, as a space between the worlds where all things are made possible, through Thine and my will. So mote it be.

PRT rotates counter-clockwise to face east and performs the Qabbalistic Ankh (see APPENDIX). If you prefer, the Qabbalistic Cross can certainly be substituted, but it should also be followed by a performance of the LBRP. Regardless, PSS either follows along silently shadowing PRT’s motions, or she may opt to intone along with PRT (or they may even choose to switch off different parts). Once complete they touch palms across the Altar and say:

 

PRT:  I am alone. There is no god where I am.

PSS: No god but man.

PRT: ABRAHADABRA!  I have spoken, and declare this temple duly open.

PRT & PSS: Let us piece the Veil, and for a time, we leave the Mortal World behind.

 

Invocation

PRT moves to Position 1C and makes the Sign of Silence. PSS moves first to Position 3D and then walks clockwise to Position 4D, then to 1D and finally circles around PRT to end at 1B and faces east as well.

PRT then steps into 1D and PSS steps up behind him into 1C. PRT makes the Sign of the Portal (specifically the Rending of the Veil, which PSS also performs) and says:

PRT: By the sigil of the lemniscate,

I open first the Eastern Gate!

By the hot, wet winds where the Sylphs do dwell,

‘Neath the Airy Throne of Raphael…

Twixt us and our minds do ye now make way,

As I invoke the Godname YHVH (PSS may also intone the Godname along with PRT)

 

Upon the intonation of the Godname, Raphael emerges and makes his way towards Position 1D. At this point PRT begins to walk clockwise around the circle to Position 2C and PSS follows behind him, walking to Position 2D and then circling clockwise around PRT to end in Position 2B. Raphael waits for them in 1D.

PRT then steps into 2D and PSS steps up behind him into 2C. PRT makes the Sign of the Portal (specifically the Rending of the Veil, which PSS also performs) and says:

PRT: By the sigil of the lemniscate,

 I open next the Southern Gate!

By the hot, dry flames where Salamanders dwell,

‘Neath the Fiery Throne of Michael…

Bring death to Because and ask not why,

As I invoke the Godname ADNI (PSS may also intone the Godname along with PRT)

 

Upon the intonation of the Godname, Michael emerges and makes his way towards Position 1D. At this point PRT begins to walk clockwise around the circle to Position 3C and PSS follows behind him, walking to Position 3D and then circling clockwise around PRT to end in Position 3B. At this point Raphael also follows them around the circle and stops in 2D. Michael waits for them in 1D.

PRT then steps into 3D and PSS steps up behind him into 3C. PRT makes the Sign of the Portal (specifically the Rending of the Veil, which PSS also performs) and says:

PRT: By the sigil of the lemniscate,

I open third the Western Gate!

By the cold, wet waves where the Undines dwell,

‘Neath the Watery Throne of Gabriel…

Love under will we e’er obey,

As I invoke the Godname EHIH (PSS may also intone the Godname along with PRT)

 

Upon the intonation of the Godname, Gabriel emerges and makes her way towards Position 1D. At this point PRT begins to walk clockwise around the circle to Position 4C and PSS follows behind him, walking to Position 4D and then circling clockwise around PRT to end in Position 4B. At this point Raphael also follows them around the circle and stops in 3D and Michael also follows suit and stops in 2D. Gabriel waits for them in 1D.

PRT then steps into 4D and PSS steps up behind him into 4C. PRT makes the Sign of the Portal (specifically the Rending of the Veil, which PSS also performs) and says:

PRT: By the sigil of the lemniscate,

I open last the Northern Gate!

By the cold, dry earth where the Gnomes do dwell,

‘Neath the Earthy Throne of Uriel…

From the infinite current we do now draw,

As I invoke the Godname AGLA (PSS may also intone the Godname along with PRT)

Upon the intonation of the Godname, Uriel emerges and makes her way towards Position 1D but does not yet enter the circle. At this point PRT continues to walk clockwise around the circle to Position 1D and PSS follows behind him and at the same time Raphael follows them around the circle to 4D while Michael also follows suit moving to 3D, and Gabriel moves to 2D. Uriel still waits just outside the circle until PRT reaches Position 1D, where PRT and PSS once again perform the (Rending) Sign of the Portal, this time without pausing or facing outward, and once they have both passed though Position 1D, Uriel will fall in line just behind them. PRT and PSS will then lead all four Archangels in another complete circumambulation of the circle, performing another (Rending) Sign of the Portal at Positions 2D, 3D, and 4D.

At this point the four Archangels complete their circumambulation of the circle and each end before their respective Thrones and face inward towards the Altar; Raphael in 1D, Michael in 2D, Gabriel in 3D, and Uriel in 4D. Once all four are in place, the Archangels take their seats in their respective thrones.

PRT once again moves to Position 1C, turns clockwise to face east and makes the Sign of Silence. PSS moves first to Position 1D and then walks clockwise around PRT to Position 1B and faces east as well and also makes the Sign of Silence.

PRT turns clockwise to face the Altar and steps through Position 1B to stand before the Altar in 1A. To accomplish this, PSS steps out of PRT’s way, circling him clockwise to end in 1C, also facing the Altar.

PRT lights an offering of Air incense and says the following, while PSS gives the Sign of Silence. Raphael should also give a sign (if) when the offering is received.

PRT: In gratitude we make this offering to any and all Spirits of Air present, or who will be further called by this working. The incense is of a scent we believe to be pleasing to you, that you will lend favorable aid to the Great Work we set about.

In the name of the Archangel RAPHAEL, and by that most holy name YHVH, let it be thus! (PSS may join in this vibration of the Godname)

P: So mote it be.

PRT now retrieves his Dagger from the Altar, turns and moves to Position 1C. As PRT walks, PSS should time her movements to circle clockwise around PRT as he approaches to end in 1B also facing east.

PRT and PSS face Raphael and makes the (Rending) Sign of the Portal. PRT ends with arms outstretched in a Tau cross, while PSS makes the Hailing Sign of the Magician, but both vibrate: Before me, RAPHAEL!

PRT then kneels (sitting on his feet) before Raphael holding his Dagger in both hands above his head  (within his crown chakra) while PSS stands behind him making the Sign of Air. Raphael, still seated, points his Wand at PRT’s Dagger and says the following:

R: This one of four, and each in part,

Are consecrated to thy Art.

For by Goat, or Scales, or Crab, or Ram,

Each awaits behind your Pentagram.

Raphael now stands and points his wand towards PRT’s various chakras while PRT and PSS aid in intoning the Godname for each. You may opt to perform the entire Middle Pillar ritual here, but at least the Crown (EHIH), Heart (YHVH EL-OH-A V’DAATZ), and Terra (ADNI HAARTZ) vibrations should be performed. Once complete, PSS changes from the Sign of Air to the Sign of Silence and Raphael announces:

R: Behold, the soul of God and beast,

Hath mingled in the globéd priest.

For such above is like that below,

Now arise, O priest, with the power To Know.

PRT now stands  and Raphael turns clockwise 180 degrees to face east. The Archangel raises the Wand in his right hand and holds it out from his right shoulder. PRT points the tip of his Dagger at the Wand, and from there all three drawn Invoking Pentagram of Air and assist each other in the vibration of the Godname YHVH. You may opt for only Raphael and PRT to draw the Pentagram and PSS instead makes the Sign of the Enterer. In either case, they each should vibrate YHVH in unison, or you may choose for each practitioner to intone only one syllable (in tadem or as one).

Raphael turns back around as PSS circles PRT clockwise and approaches the Archangel. PSS removes Raphael’s yellow sash from his waist and once it has been removed, the Archangel sits in the Throne of Air. PSS (circling PRT clockwise) now drapes the sash over PRT’s shoulders like a stole. As they do this, Raphael says:

R: Of my energy you do now share,

Come claim the Mantle of the Air. (PSS collects sash)

By my authority you rightly yield,

A power in your etheric field.

That you might be the picture of Health,

Envisioned by your Higher Self.

As the ten are all and the eleventh none,

Behold the colors of the Sun!

Raphael seated, points his Wand at PRT (or specifically at PRT’s Dagger) as PRT steps into Position 1D, turns clockwise 90 degrees and begins to inscribe the first quadrant of the cast circle. Using the blade he draws the edge of the circle as he walks from 1D to 2D.

As PRT begins to make this circle and PSS enters 1D to follow behind, Raphael points his Wand at her and she freezes in place, making the Hailing Sign of the Magician. Raphael then says:

R: Summer, Winter, Autumn, Vernal,

Do ebb and flow in dance eternal.

For Sun and Season rearranges,

So… I gift to thee the Book of Changes.

Raphael now offers forth the I-Ching, which PSS kneels to receive, then rises to continue clockwise along the circle to 2C, which she should reach sometime after PRT has crossed it on the way to the altar.

When PRT reaches 2D he turns right and walks to Position 2A, while PSS will await him in 2C (also facing the altar).  When PRT reaches the Altar, he replaces his Dagger.

PRT lights an offering of Fire incense and says the following, while PSS gives the Sign of Silence. Michael should also give a sign (if) when the offering is received.

PRT: In gratitude we make this offering to any and all Spirits of Fire present, or who will be further called by this working. The incense is of a scent we believe to be pleasing to you, that you will lend favorable aid to the Great Work we set about.

In the name of the Archangel MICHAEL, and by that most holy name ADNI, let it be thus! (PSS may join in this vibration of the Godname)

P: So mote it be.

PRT now retrieves his Fire Wand from the Altar, turns and moves to Position 2C. As PRT walks, PSS should time her movements to circle clockwise around PRT as he approaches to end in 2B but this time, walks on to the altar to place the I-Ching in the Wand’s place, then returns to 2C facing south.

PRT and PSS face Michael and makes the (Rending) Sign of the Portal. PRT ends with arms outstretched in a Tau cross, while PSS makes the Hailing Sign of the Magician, but both vibrate: Before me, MICHAEL!

PRT then kneels (sitting on his feet) before Michael holding his Fire Wand in both hands above his head (within his crown chakra) while PSS stands behind him making the Sign of Fire. Michael, still seated, points his Sword at PRT’s Wand and says the following:

M: This one of four, and each in part,

Are consecrated to thy Art.

For by Goat, or Scales, or Crab, or Ram,

Each awaits behind your Pentagram.

Michael now stands and lays his Sword within PRT’s various chakras while PRT and PSS aid in intoning the Godname for each. Michael is “knighting” PRT, doffing his weapon first on PRT’s Fire Wand/Crown (EHIH), then on the Left Shoulder (EL), and finally the Right Shoulder (ALOHM GIBOOR) and these are the vibrations that should be performed with each. Once complete, PSS changes from the Sign of Fire to the Sign of Silence and Michael announces:

M: Behold, the Prophet doth arise,

To bring fresh fever from the skies.

For what fire cleanse not… it doth surely kill,

Now arise, O knight, with the power To Will.

PRT now stands and Michael turns clockwise 180 degrees to face south. The Archangel holds the Sword above his head while PRT points the tip of his Wand at the Sword, and from there all three draw an Invoking Pentagram of Fire and assist each other in the vibration of the Godname ADNI. You may opt for only Michael and PRT to draw the Pentagram, and PSS instead makes the Sign of the Enterer. In either case, they each should vibrate ADNI in unison, or you may choose for each practitioner to intone only one syllable (in tadem or as one).

Michael turns back around as PSS circles PRT clockwise and approaches the Archangel. PSS removes Michael’s red sash/stole about his shoulders and once it has been removed, the Archangel sits in the Throne of Fire. PSS (circling PRT clockwise) now wraps the sash around PRT’s waist like a belt. To accomplish this, PRT should hold one end of the sash in place against his side while PSS “orbits” clockwise around PRT and finally tucks in the loose end. As they do this, Michael says:

M: Of my energy you may now claim,

Come forth and grasp the Belt of Flame. (PSS collects sash)

By my authority you rightly yield,

A power in your etheric field.

Feel at your back (as you traverse),

The momentum of the Universe.

As zero is two and the three is one,

Behold the colors of the Sun!

Michael still seated, points his Sword at PRT (or specifically at PRT’s Wand) as PRT steps into Position 2D, turns clockwise 90 degrees begins to inscribe the second quadrant of the cast circle. Using the Fire Wand he draws the edge of the circle as he walks from 2D to 3D.

As PRT begins to make this circle, PSS returns to the altar at 2A and retrieves the Book of Changes, then retraces her steps to follow PRT. When PSS enters 2D, Michael points his Sword at her and she freezes in place making the Hailing Sign of the Magician. Michael then says:

M: Those seeking Abundance in the Sun’s name,

Must feed their sigils to the flame.

Fraternal success must be assured,

So… I gift an implement of the Word

Michael now removes the Brush from around his neck and places it around PSS‘s neck, which she kneels and bows her head to receive, then rises to continue clockwise along the circle to 3C, which she should reach sometime after PRT has crossed it on the way to the altar.

When PRT reaches 3D he turns right and walks to Position 3A, while PSS will await him in 3C (also facing the altar).  When PRT reaches the Altar, he replaces his Wand.

PRT lights an offering of Water incense and says the following, while PSS gives the Sign of Silence. Gabriel should also give a sign (if) when the offering is received.

PRT: In gratitude we make this offering to any and all Spirits of Water present, or who will be further called by this working. The incense is of a scent we believe to be pleasing to you, that you will lend favorable aid to the Great Work we set about.

In the name of the Archangel GABRIEL, and by that most holy name EHIH, let it be thus! (PSS may join in this vibration of the Godname)

O: So mote it be.

PRT now retrieves his Water Cup from the Altar, turns and moves to Position 3C. As PRT walks, PSS should time her movements to circle clockwise around PRT as he approaches to end in 3B but again, walks on to the altar to place the I-Ching in the Cup’s place, then returns to 3C facing west.

PRT and PSS face Gabriel and makes the (Rending) Sign of the Portal. PRT ends with arms outstretched in a Tau cross, while PSS makes the Hailing Sign of the Magician, but both vibrate: Before me, GABRIEL!

PRT then kneels (sitting on his feet) before Gabriel holding his Water Cup in both hands above his head  (within his crown chakra) while PSS stands behind him making the Sign of Water. Gabriel, still seated, points her Chalice above PRT’s Cup and says the following:

G: This one of four, and each in part,

Are consecrated to thy Art.

For by Goat, or Scales, or Crab, or Ram,

Each awaits behind your Pentagram.

Gabriel now stands and begins to pour the water from her Chalice into the Water Cup over PRT’s head. Though the goal should be to transfer the majority of the water from one vessel to the other, Gabriel should allow a portion of the water to spill over the edge and onto PRT’s head. As Gabriel does this, she announces the word RECTIFICANDO! Once complete, PSS changes from the Sign of Water to the Sign of Silence and Gabriel announces:

G: With sacrifice, this tomb be stained,

To hail the king who shall yet reign.

Thy will be true, thy soul weighed fair.

Now arise, O king, with the power To Dare.

PRT now stands and Gabriel turns clockwise 180 degrees to face west. The Archangel holds the Chalice in her left hand out from her left shoulder. PRT points the Water Cup towards the Chalice, and from there all three draw an Invoking Pentagram of Water and assist each other in the vibration of the Godname EHIH. You may opt for only Gabriel and PRT to draw the Pentagram, and PSS instead makes the Sign of the Enterer. In either case, they each should vibrate EHIH in unison, or you may choose for each practitioner to intone only one syllable (in tadem or as one).

Gabriel turns back around as PSS circles PRT clockwise and approaches the Archangel. PSS removes Gabriel’s blue sash/stole about her shoulders and once it has been removed, the Archangel sits in the Throne of Water. PSS now wraps the sash around her own waist like a belt. To accomplish this, PSS should hold one end of the sash in place against her side (from right to left) and “orbit” clockwise around PRT while always making sure to be facing west. PRT stays within Position 1C but should rotate in place to always face towards PSS as she revolves around him. This could prove slightly tricky as PRT must also be sure not to spill the water in his cup. Once the sash is wrapped tight, PRT can finally tuck in the loose end and PSS should finish cycling in Position 3B. As they do this, Gabriel says:

G: Come unto me, my worthy daughter,

Come forth and grasp the Belt of Water. (PSS collects sash)

By my authority you rightly yield,

A power in your etheric field.

Scorpion, Serpent, Phoenix, Dragon,

Do pour forth all from out my flagon.

By dawn or dusk, midnight or noon,

Behold the colors of the Moon!

Gabriel still seated, points her Chalice at PRT (or specifically at PRT’s Cup) as PRT steps into Position 3D, turns clockwise 90 degrees begins to inscribe the third quadrant of the cast circle. Using the Water Cup he draws the edge of the circle as he walks from 3D to 4D.

As PRT begins to make this circle, PSS returns to the altar at 3A and retrieves the Book of Changes, then retraces her steps to follow PRT. When PSS enters 3D, Gabriel points her Chalice at PSS and she freezes in place making the Hailing Sign of the Magician. Gabriel then says:

G: Astral light, Shakti, Ching, Shen, Chi,

Prana, Mana, Kundalini,

Gush forth ever from the Now,

So… I gift ye a vessel of the Tao.

Gabriel now offer’s PSS the Cha-do teapot, which she kneels to receive, then rises to continue clockwise along the circle to 4C, which she should reach sometime after PRT has crossed it on the way to the altar.

When PRT reaches 4D he turns right and walks to Position 4A, while PSS will await him in 4C (also facing the altar).  When PRT reaches the Altar, he replaces his Cup.

PRT lights an offering of Earth incense and says the following, while PSS gives the Sign of Silence. Uriel should also give a sign (if) when the offering is received.

PRT: In gratitude we make this offering to any and all Spirits of Earth present, or who will be further called by this working. The incense is of a scent we believe to be pleasing to you, that you will lend favorable aid to the Great Work we set about.

In the name of the Archangel URIEL, and by that most holy name AGLA, let it be thus! (PSS may join in this vibration of the Godname)

P: So mote it be.

PRT now retrieves his Pentacle from the Altar, turns and moves to Position 4C. As PRT walks, PSS should time her movements to circle clockwise around PRT as he approaches to end in 4B but again, walks on to the altar to place the teapot atop the I-Ching in the Pentacle’s place, then returns to 4C facing north.

PRT and PSS face Uriel and makes the (Rending) Sign of the Portal. PRT ends with arms outstretched in a Tau cross, while PSS makes the Hailing Sign of the Magician, but both vibrate: Before me, URIEL!

PRT then kneels (sitting on his feet) before Uriel holding his Pentacle in both hands above his head  (within his crown chakra) while PSS stands behind him making the Sign of Earth. Uriel, still seated, points her Scythe at PRT’s Pentacle and says the following:

U: This one of four, and each in part,

Are consecrated to thy Art.

For by Goat, or Scales, or Crab, or Ram,

Each awaits behind your Pentagram.

 

Uriel now stands and begins to draw an Invoking Pentagram of Earth overtop PRT’s Pentacle while (perhaps silently) vibrating the Godname ADNI HAARTZ. After making this blessing, Uriel offers forth the Book of the Law (horizontally) and PRT places his Pentacle atop the cover. Once complete, PSS changes from the Sign of Earth to the Sign of Silence and Uriel announces:

U: What songs for thee art left to sing?

For thou hath been priest, and knight, and king.

But behold the woman who hath awake,

The lust and worship of the snake.

For we art sweet, and stern, and violent,

Now arise, O Queen, with the power To Keep Silent.

Note: you may wish Uriel to hold her scythe to PRT’s throat on her last two lines…

PRT now stands and takes both his Pentacle and the Book of the Law from the Archangel. Uriel then turns clockwise 180 degrees to face north. The Archangel holds the Scythe up above her head. PRT points the Pentacle towards the Scythe, and from there all three draw an Invoking Pentagram of Earth and assist each other in the vibration of the Godname AGLA. You may opt for only Uriel and PRT to draw the Pentagram, and PSS instead makes the Sign of the Enterer. In either case, they each should vibrate AGLA in unison, or you may choose for each practitioner to intone only one syllable (in tadem or as one).

Uriel turns back around as PSS circles PRT clockwise and approaches the Archangel. PSS removes Uriel’s green sash from her waist and once it has been removed, the Archangel sits in the Throne of Earth. PSS (circling PRT clockwise) now wraps the sash around her own neck like a stole, and tucks both ends through her blue sash belt herself. PRT remains silent, eyes closed, and holds the Book of the Law reverently. Once the sash is tucked in PSS should finish in Position 4B. As they do this, Uriel says:

G: Come unto me, O child of worth,

Come claim the Mantle of the Earth. (PSS collects sash)

By my authority you rightly yield,

A power in your etheric field.

For as below and so above,

All things unite with naught but love.

About thy trunk, twin snakes festoon,

Behold the colors of the Moon!

Uriel still seated, points her Scythe at PRT (or specifically at PRT’s Pentacle) as PRT steps into Position 4D, turns clockwise 90 degrees begins to inscribe the fourth quadrant of the cast circle. Using the Pentacle he draws the edge of the circle as he walks from 4D to 1D.

As PRT begins to make this circle, PSS returns to the altar at 4A and retrieves the Book of Changes (leaving the teapot) then retraces her steps to follow PRT. When PSS enters 4D, Uriel points her Scythe at PSS and she freezes in place making the Hailing Sign of the Magician. Uriel then says:

U: Things are e’er subject to Change,

Even cosmic laws must rearrange,

For love’s sake only is separation,

So… I gift ye tools of divination.

Uriel now removes the I-Ching coins from around her neck and places it around PSS‘s neck, which she kneels and bows her head to receive, then rises to continue clockwise along the circle to 1D, and continue back around the circle clockwise to 2D and then 3D, then move to stand by the altar at Position 3A.

When PRT reaches 1D he turns right and walks to Position 1A. When PRT reaches the Altar, he replaces his Pentacle and waits for PSS to reach 3A.

PRT and PSS each place their books in the cradles on the Altar and then PRT turns clockwise 180 degrees to face east. As he does this, all four Archangels stand. PRT then makes the Tau Cross and declares: For about me flames the Pentagram… and within the column shines the six-rayed star!  As PRT mentions the Pentagram, each Archangel should vibrate the Godname for their quadrant (YHVH, ADNI, EHIH, AGLA respectively) at once or in tandem and point their weapons towards the Group Kether above PRT. As PRT mentions the six-rayed star, he should draw and Invoking Solar Hexagram above his head, and the Archangels then lower their weapons, pulling the Hexagram down to the level of the floor along the column of light. PSS can assist with whichever part of this operation feels most appropriate.

 

Coronation

PRT then declares: For the Mortal Veil is left behind. Walk we now among the gods divine!

Raphael now raises his Wand and roars: THERION!  He then retires his Wand, placing it on his Throne.

Michael then raises his Sword and bellows: HADIT! He then retires his Sword, placing it on his Throne.

Gabriel then raises her Chalice and whispers: BABALON! She then retires her Chalice, placing it on her Throne.

Uriel then raises her Scythe and says: NUIT! She then retires her Scythe, placing it on her Throne.

Note: if the Throne is one of the four to be used below, you may opt instead for the Archangel’s weapon to be placed instead nearby, but out of the way.

As the Archangels do this, PRT will retrieve one of his four weapons from the Altar. This will depend on the ceremony, so the Wand for the Vernal Equinox, the Cup for the Summer Solstice, the Dagger for the Autumnal Equinox, and the Pentacle for the Winter Solstice. You may opt for PRT to retrieve his weapon when it corresponds to the Archangel’s annunciation above.

The Archangels then begin a clockwise circumambulation of the circle, all the while chanting THERION! HADIT! BABALON! NUIT!  in tandem per the above, or all as one.  As they chant PRT turns to the east and begins to make his way from Position 1A to 1C and wait there, his weapon held reverently. At this same time PSS turns to the West and walks to Position 3C.

As the angels complete their first circumambulation, PRT should fall into line between Michael and Raphael, while PSS should join the circle between Uriel and Gabriel. The chant continues, and this time PRT and PSS join in.

The six now make one more complete circumambulation, and then assemble as a group at one of the four Thrones. The Throne will again depend on the ceremony, so the Throne of Fire for the Vernal Equinox, the Throne of Water for the Summer Solstice, the Throne of Air for the Autumnal Equinox, and the Throne of Earth for the Winter Solstice.

Once all have assembled, they arrange themselves in tableaux that correspond to the Tarot card of the cardinal zodiac sign the sun is entering. So, the Emperor for the Vernal Equinox (Aries), the Chariot for the Summer Solstice (Cancer), Adjustment for the Autumnal Equinox (Libra), and the Devil for the Winter Solstice (Capricorn).

 

THE EMPEROR – Vernal Equinox

Assembled by the Throne of Fire, PRT sits on the Throne, with his right leg laid perpendicular across his left thigh and PSS kneels at his left side. Raphael and Michael flank PRT to the left and right behind the Throne, and each places their fists to their temples, thumbs hooked upward making the Sign of Vir (though you may opt for Michael to make the Sign of Fire instead). Gabriel and Uriel kneel to the right of the Throne facing one another, and throw their heads and arms back making the Sign of Mulier. PSS then places the Brush upright in PRT’s cupped left hand which initially is placed atop his lap with the palm down. Once the Brush is gripped in PRT’s cupped hand, PSS raises her right fist, thumb outwards in the Sign of Puer. With PRT’s right hand he then holds his wand to his chest with the point over his left should and turns his head profile to look over his right shoulder. They then say:

PSS,M,R,G,U: This sacrifice hath stained the tomb – behold the king that reigns!

M: YOD

R: HEH

G: VAVH

U: HEH

THE CHARIOT – Summer Solstice

Assembled by the Throne of Water, PSS stands before Throne and PRT stands directly in front of her. PSS places the Brush around PRT’s neck, then holds her hands above PRT’s head and touches thumbs to index fingers, holding them in such a way to make the symbol of Cancer within PRT’s crown chakra. The Archangels each crouch down in front of PRT to form a line, and from right to left are positioned Michael, Raphael, Gabriel, and Uriel. PRT makes the Sign of Water as he holds his Water Cup in front of his abdomen, and allows the Brush to dip into the water within. They then say:

PSS,M,R,G,U: This sacrifice hath stained the tomb – behold the king that reigns!

M: YOD

R: HEH

G: VAVH

U: HEH

PSS,M,R,G,U:  Let blessings now be rightly poured – to the Hawk-headed mystical Lord!

Assembled by the Throne of Air, PRT stands before Throne with his dagger clasped in both hands (right over left) with the point facing downwards, while PSS kneels directly in front of him. The Archangels each take up flanking positions before and behind the Throne facing inwards towards PRT. To the left Gabriel is in front of the Throne while Uriel is behind, and to the right Michael is in front while Raphael is behind. PSS then holds the Brush aloft and PRT carefully places the dagger through the loop to receive it. PSS then makes the Sign of Air. They then say:

PSS,M,R,G,U: This sacrifice hath stained the tomb – behold the king that reigns!

M: YOD

R: HEH

G: VAVH

U: HEH

PSS,M,R,G,U:  Let blessings now be rightly poured – to the Hawk-headed mystical Lord!

THE DEVIL – Winter Solstice

Assembled by the Throne of Earth, PRT kneels before Throne facing outwards with his pentacle clasped in both hands held up to his forehead and 3rd eye chakra, while PSS sits in the Throne behind him. The Archangels each take up flanking positions before the Throne facing inwards towards PRT and all make the Sign of Earth (though you may wish to substitute the L.V.X. Signs if you prefer). Michael and Raphael are to the left of the Throne, while Gabriel and Uriel are to the right. PSS then places the Brush around PRT’s neck (and wrists) and then raises her arms in the Sign of Typhon. They then say:

PSS,M,R,G,U: This sacrifice hath stained the tomb – behold the king that reigns!

M: YOD

R: HEH

G: VAVH

U: HEH

PSS,M,R,G,U:  Let blessings now be rightly poured – to the Hawk-headed mystical Lord!

The Charging 

Once the Archangels have reclaimed their Weapons and retaken their Thrones, PRT and PSS stand facing one another in the Sign of Spirit, their hands pointed at one another (or even touching) across the Altar. The Archangels now point their weapons at the Group Kether and in unison they (along with PRT and PSS) vibrate the Godname YHVH EL-OH-A V’DAATZ.

PSS remains in the Sign of Spirit, but PRT now claims the Fire Wand and directs the light of the Group Kether down and into the prepared candle and honey jar (or whatever you chose to charge in this ritual) and then draws around it an Invoking (Active) Spirit Pentagram when he reaches the Godname line. As he does this, PRT says:

PRT: Know we true that all creation,

All spirit, form, and deviation,

From imagination to manifestation,

And each variation of that permutation,

Above, below have correlation.

 

ALL: YHVH EL-OH-A V’DAATZ.

 

PRT replaces his Wand and retrieves his Dagger as he begins the next lines. PRT then proceeds to draw an Invoking (Active) Spirit Pentagram around the candle and honey jar upon reaching the Godname.

 

PRT: Our concentration is activation,

Communication of transformation,

Across the cosmic civilization.

This is the foundation of our operation,

For all that is… is but vibration.

 

ALL: YHVH EL-OH-A V’DAATZ.

 

PRT replaces his Dagger and retrieves his Pentacle as he begins the next lines. PRT then proceeds to draw an Invoking (Active) Spirit Pentagram around the candle and honey jar upon reaching the Godname.

 

PRT: This is now our comprehension,

That matter is energy’s last extension.

Vibrating far too slow to mention,

But all the same ‘neath Saturn’s tension…

 

ALL: YHVH EL-OH-A V’DAATZ.

 

PRT replaces his Pentacle and retrieves his Cup as he begins the next lines. PRT then proceeds to draw an Invoking (Active) Spirit Pentagram around the candle and honey jar upon reaching the Godname.

 

PRT: Still… some forms boast of more retention,

To hold a suspension of our attention.

And empowered, a vehicle for its ascension,

In accordance with laws of magickal convention,

To the astral realms shaping our dimension,

And fill the void of our truest intention.

 

ALL: YHVH EL-OH-A V’DAATZ.

 

PSS now claims her teapot from the altar, removes the lid, and holds it towards PRT. PRT then carefully pours the blessed water from his Cup into the teapot. PSS may wish to hold the lid of the teapot over the candle wick to avoid any risk of it getting wet from accidental splashing. As they do this, all say:

ALL: May all Gods and Spirits, Men and Beasts,

Lay blessing here to perfect this feast.

YHVH EL-OH-A V’DAATZ!!!

After recitation of the Godname, both PRT and PSS “toast” or otherwise salute one another with their water vessels. PRT then replaces his empty Cup on the Altar and lights the candle atop the honey jar, while PSS raises her teapot skyward. Once the candle is lit, they then both simultaneously make the Sign of Silence.

 

 

 

The Eucharistic Rites

PRT now turns about the room to address the People, and the Archangels may take this opportunity to retire their Weapons somewhere nearby but out of the way. PRT gestures to the heads of each of the tables, and the empty places there. As he does this the Archangels each stand and make their way towards the heads of their respective table. As they do this, PSS now takes the teapot and the chime to the Throne of Water, and begins to set up to perform the Tea Ceremony.

PRT: Who will surrender their chair, with a smile on their face,

That the angels might sit in their proper place..?

And attend this night upon each earthly need,

Mislead not by thy own greed.

True service is performed without reciprocity,

For the secret to Abundance is generosity.

The idea is that at least one person from each table will give up their seat so the Archangels can sit at the head of the table, but PRT may need to prompt them a little, or after a few moments the angel will be standing at the head of the table, and that would perhaps shame someone into volunteering. Courtesy and Generosity are cornerstones of Abundance, so hopefully there won’t be too much arm-twisting to get each of the Archangels sat at the heads of their tables, with their new attendants at their right hand, so to speak.

Once everyone is sat the Archangels raise their hands in blessing and begin the following. The Archangels new Attendants are encouraged to assist (vibrationally or otherwise) with the recitation:

M: YOD

G: HEH

R: VAVH

U: HEH

R: Bless this feast, for now and forever,

Let it serve as an inspiration of our endeavor.

 

M: Invigorate this feast, for all eternity

And strengthen the bonds of our fraternity.

 

G: Sanctify this feast, until we have all had our fill,

And experience the ecstasy of Love under Will.

 

U: Harmonize this feast, fill all with mirth,

And be a vehicle for the joy of man upon earth.

 

R,M,G,U: By the reign of the Sun, most beauteous,

And by the TETRAGRAMMATON, so let it be thus!

From now unto eternity, our will be done…

 

ALL: So mote it be.

 

PRT greets the Kingdom of Air in his own manner as he sees fit. PRT invites all from that table to follow Raphael and partake of the Tea Ceremony. Raphael now stands and the Kingdom of Air all circle to the west. Raphael stands in Position 3C and directs his Attendant to sit in 3D and the rest of the People should arrange themselves to that person’s left or right.

PRT then says: Before we eat and drink our fill, please join me in a recitation of “Will”.

 

Will (variation)

PRT: (knocks 333-55555-333)

PRT: Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

ALL: What is thy will?

PRT: It is my will to eat and to drink.

ALL: To what end?

PRT: That I may fortify my body thereby.

ALL: To what end?

PRT: That I may accomplish the Great Work.

ALL: Love is the law, love under will.

PRT: As each Kingdom goes forth to partake,

Each of your own lands’ meals are also at stake.

Come fill your plates, as you are able,

Choice morsels from their unguarded table.

(knocks once) Fall to!

 

PSS now ceremonially prepares the tea for the assembled group as presumably the rest of the People now rise and help themselves to a few things from the appetizers before returning to their seats. The Archangels may speak as they will, but should endeavor to communicate through gesture and expression whenever possible, but the Attendants should also start to make a plate for their own Archangels.

Either during a natural lull in the preparation, or once the tea is finally distributed, PSS should produce the I-Ching coins and perform a casting for the group assembled. Before casting the coins, PSS should sound the chime and that is PRT’s cue to retrieve the I-Ching from its cradle. The results of the cast Hexagram are announced and PRT turns to that page in the I-Ching, and begins to read the details of the casting.

The Attendant should be given the first cup of tea, and PSS gestures or otherwise indicates it is to be given to the Archangel. The rest of the People are then given their own cups with the Attendant receiving the final cup. They should be given a few moments to appreciate the aroma and listen to the reading, but all six of the practitioners at this point (especially Rapahel) should be focusing the Group Kether light down in blessing.

When Raphael is satisfied he says: It is finished! Let the powers of Abundance now crystallize in our blood.  And all assembled should respond with So mote it be. They then drink.

After everyone has drunk their tea and the cups have been returned to PSS (including the Attendant returning the Archangel’s) PRT then says: Before returning to the feast, come make your sigils in the East.

Raphael then leads his group around the circle towards the east and will stop in Position 1D. As they are circulating now Michael stands and indicates to his Attendant that they should do the same and will lead his Kingdom to the west for their own tea ceremony (complete with a chime to indicate when the coin casting will occur). But as they do this PRT again repeats the address and gestures, saying:

PRT: As each Kingdom goes forth to partake,

Each of your own lands’ meals are also at stake.

Come fill your plates, as you are able,

Choice morsels from their unguarded table.

However, as the Kingdom of Fire is going through their ceremony, PRT now moves to 1D and meets the Kingdom of Air in the east and (utilizing the Brush) helps facilitate each person’s creation of their own Abundance sigil on a piece of flash paper. The Attendant should create theirs second to last and the Archangel should go last, inscribing (their version of) the sigil of Universal Fraternal Success (below).

Before leading them back to their table the people are instructed to place their sigils under their plates during the meal, and the Attendant is given one of the empty nearby chairs and told to be given a place at the Archangel’s right hand. If all goes well, this will be accomplished before PSS sounds the chime indicating PRT should return to Position 1A for the next I-Ching reading.

This entire process repeats twice more until finally the Kingdom of Earth has completed their sigils and returned to their table. PSS may now retire her tea set and return to stand in Position 3A. The coins and teapot may be left behind in the west, but the chime should be returned to the altar. PRT meets her at the Altar in Position 1A. If you wish, PRT and PSS may join in with the Kingdom of Earth to create sigils as well.

 

The Feast

This is the unscripted part of the ritual, as the People may now move about as they will and start eating and drinking. This would be a good time for PRT and PSS to create their own sigils before joining in the feast. PRT and PSS now may also claim the last two empty chairs and sit among the People wherever the population of the Kingdom needs the most “balancing out”, though ideally PRT would sit among the Kingdom most appropriate to the current Solstice/Equinox. The feast may go on for as long as you deem appropriate for the evening, but the Archangels should pay attention to the People at their own table and take note of when it looks like most everyone is finished eating.

Once their table looks to be mostly done feasting (and they themselves are of course done), each Archangel should start to signal one another, and when all four confirm their tables look to be done, they then produce their sigils from beneath their plates, focused their attention on them and begin to chant: By the bonds of this Fraternity, our will be done, so mote it be.  PRT and PSS should take this cue and also pull out their own sigils to concentrate on, and join in the mantra, and the People should hopefully start to follow suit.

Once all the people and practitioners have joined in the chant, PRT and PSS get up from their chairs, and circumambulating clockwise however is appropriate to their seating and retake their places in Positions 1A and 3A respectively. They continue chanting the mantra until they (both in the same motion) place their sigils into the candle flame. PRT then addresses the people (who along with the Archangels should still be chanting) and says:

PRT: Those seeking Abundance in the Sun’s name,

Come feed your sigils to the flame!

PRT and PSS now retreat to Positions 1C and 3C respectively to allow the people access, when they are ready, to stand at the altar and cast their own sigils into the candle flame. PRT and/or PSS may opt to start speaking in tongues at this point. Once an Archangel notes that every member of his table has gone to the altar and returned to their seat, they then also stand and cast their own into the fire, but they do not return to the table, but instead now returns to their respective Thrones to retrieve their Weapons and stand in the D Positions facing the Altar while PRT and PSS now return to Positions 1A and 3A. They then say:

PRT: Hear Me, and make all Entities subject unto Me: so that every Spirit of the Firmament and of the Ether: upon the Earth and under the Earth: on dry Land and in the Water: of Whirling Air, and of rushing Fire: and every Spell and Scourge of God may be obedient unto Me.

We now humbly thank all ye creatures who have watched and joined in our ritual. Return ye now to your abodes and habitations, harming none on your way, to manifest in accordance with your proper power and position, these operations that we have set in motion congruent with the Will of our Higher Selves. And may the blessing of YEH-HAH-SHU-AH YEH-HOH-VAH-SHA as you are able to receive them, be upon thee.

ALL: AUMGN, AUMGN, AUMGN!

M: Another prophet shall arise to bring fresh fever from the skies.

U: Another woman shall awake the lust and worship of the snake.

R: Another soul of God and Beast shall mingle in the globéd priest.

G: Another sacrifice shall stain the tomb – another king shall reign,

And blessings no longer be poured – to the Hawk-headed mystical Lord! (she may upend her empty Chalice to illustrate this further).

PRT & PSS: Stay all if ye will, go now if ye must,

For between us ever is perfect love and trust.

 

Closing

 

The Archangels now begin the chant of chanting THERION! HADIT! BABALON! NUIT!  again, but this time they begin to circumambulate around the room counter-clockwise.

After their first circulation, PRT joins the group between Michael and Raphael while PSS joins the procession between Uriel and Gabriel. They circle the room counter-clockwise twice more, and each time PRT crosses over one of the D Positions he makes the Sign of the Portal (specifically the Closing of the Veil).

Once the Archangels have circled the room three times (and PRT and PSS only twice) they cease chanting and then start to file out of the room the way the entered, Raphael the first to exit and Uriel the last.

PRT and PSS make one final circulation of the room, still making the Closing Sign of the Portal at the D Positions, but now in silence. They should finish circulating in Positions 1D and 3D respectively, then return to the Altar at 1A and 3A and they perform the Qabbalistic Ankh once again. PRT then says:

PRT: Gates First and Second, Third and Fourth,

Are shut East and South and West and North.

Upon solid Earth we do now stand,

And there is peace throughout the land.

The Mortal Veil is again reformed,

For it is we who art transformed.

Lies told of lies are the only truth,

So let success e’er be our proof.

May our True Wills go forth unopposed,

As I declare this temple duly closed.

 

 Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

 

ALL: Love is the Law, love under will.

 

PSS then presents the Chime and PRT sounds it eleven times in the 333 55555 333 cadence and the candles are blown out (green, blue, red, and lastly yellow).
