Introduction

The practice of blending Eastern and Western traditions in ceremonial magick is hardly a new concept, but now that the new Aeon is upon us, perhaps the time has come to de-mystify some of the more “exotic” aspects from both traditions and focus primarily on the common elements and themes prevalent in both. This ritual attempts to blend certain of the more Yang-like Westerns approaches to ceremonial magick with the more Yin-like disciplines inherent in the Eastern Tea Ceremony (for at their root in this case, both utilize Eucharistic magickal operations). It is worth noting that while this ritual goes into considerable detail in relation to the events surrounding it, there are no instructions for the performance of the actual ceremonial tea preparation. Both the Chinese and Japanese styles of Cha-Do have ancient and longstanding traditions that cannot possibly be summarized for the purposes of this ritual. Those wishing to perform this operation are encouraged to first research this topic on their own before deciding how and in what manner tea should be prepared for this operation. Though it should technically be possible to perform a successful ritual with simple hot water and steeped tea bags… the beauty, power, and ritualistic nature of the traditional ceremonies (and coupled with traditional teas of additionally appropriate correspondences) cannot be understated, to the point where it may be more effective to seek out a participant already familiar with performing one of these ceremonies than it would be learning one of these traditions from scratch. That said, this or any other part of this ritual you should feel free to modify as you wish. What follows was originally prepared for a specific group of practitioners, and performed during a waxing phase of the moon, so other aspects of this ritual (such as creating amulets rather than talismans, etc.) may also necessitate revisions, to account for the individual requirements of one’s own group. The Thelemic Tea Ceremony requires at least four main participants, but can utilize as many as twelve committed magicians, and these additional individuals can be tasked with fulfilling any/all of the secondary roles suggested below.

Primary Roles

Officiate – the Officiate is the de-facto leader of the ritual, sets much of the pace of the working and specifically is responsible for the opening invocation and closing banishing operations. Attributed to the element of Air, it is the Officiate’s duty to provide the Air Dagger for the altar.

Empowerer – the Empowerer’s main duty is to harness and direct the energies generated by the Group Kether specifically for the purposes of focusing the energies to magickally charge various items. Attributed to the element of Fire, it is the Empowerer’s duty to provide the Fire Wand for the altar.

Harmonizer – the Harmonizer performs the actual ceremonial preparation of the various teas with the containers of water prepared and charged to this purpose. To this end is recommended the Harmonizer remain single-minded of purpose, and not seek to fulfill any of the Secondary role gaps below. Attributed to the element of Water, it is the Harmonizer’s duty to provide the Water Cup for the altar. This tool could certainly be a Cha-Do teapot, though ideally not the same pot utilized for this ritual’s tea preparation.

Manifestor – the Manifestor’s main focus is the evaluation of the energetically charged rituals items, and determines when each individual operation is complete. Ideally this practitioner is a person with a highly intuitive energetic sensitivity. Attributed to the element of Earth, it is the Manifestor’s duty to provide the Earth Pentacle for the altar.

Secondary Roles

Diviner – periodically throughout the course of the working, a divination should be done to see if it is favorable to proceed with certain steps of the ritual. Ideally, this duty should be taken up by a practitioner other than the working’s principle four (otherwise this duty can fall to the Manifestor, or perhaps whichever practitioner’s divination skills are most trusted by the group). If numbers (and talents) allow, the working can have multiple Diviners who create a consensus (i.e. “Minority Report”) of results, or additionally can field multiple participants’ inquiries simultaneously so as to not bog the pace of the ritual down unnecessarily. The group should always be committed to heeding the Diviner’s advice and take whatever steps are necessary as a group to satisfy the question asked before proceeding to the next step in the operation. Diviners should obviously also provide whatever divination tools of their own (Tarot cards, I-Ching coins, etc.) they are most comfortable using.

Offerates – ritual offerings are made periodically throughout each working, so where possible these tasks can be given to other participants who are not involved in other duties as above. Offerings are made at each of the four corners of the altar, so four (or more) additional roles can be filled by other participants, but just as easily managed by the principle four where numbers do not permit. Additionally you may wish one of the Offerates to prepare an “artistic” offering and short dedication as well. For instance, a poem, song, or dance (the more original the better) performed in honor of the assembled spirits would be appropriate.

Invoker – at Stage 6 of the operation (attributed to Strength) an invocation of Martial spirits are called. This role can either be fulfilled by any single person from among the participants most appropriate, but if numbers are limited the best invoker from among the Officiate, Empowerer and Manifestor should perform that part of the ritual.

Ambassador of Good Cheer – depending on your own group’s dispositions, you may find that mild intoxication can be beneficial in the achieving of appropriate magickal mindsets. And though there is certainly value gained in overcoming latent fears and inhibitions from the imbibing of alcohol, there can be no room in this ritual for impaired judgment or lack of focus on the part of the participants. It is therefore the sacred duty of the Ambassador to monitor the attitudes of the other participants and encourage their worth, success, and good humor. To which, the filling his or her fellow practitioners’ cups is but one possible manifestation of that duty. And so while it also therefore falls to the Ambassador himself to keep in high spirits, it is also his duty throughout the course of the ritual to ensure no one else in the group reaches a state of impaired inebriation (at least until after the ritual has officially closed and said duties are relieved).  In short, to be the life of the party, the Ambassador must never be the drunkest guy at it.

Tools & Preparation

Altar – ideally, the altar will be a simple square set atop the middle of a round or square table that the participants will all sit in a circle around, facing inwards. On the table can be kept any and all of each participants’ items (ritual or otherwise), but the altar should only ever feature items specifically mentioned below.

Air Dagger, the Officiate’s, initially placed on the eastern side of the altar.

Fire Wand, the Empowerer’s, initially placed on the southern side of the altar.

Water Cup, in addition to the Harmonizer’s which is initially placed on the western side of the altar, participants should each bring their own chalices for the purposes of imbibing consecrated wine throughout the ritual. Participants not in position of this magickal weapon can simply substitute a normal wine glass.

Cha-Do set with enough cups to service all participants. Ideally this set is also a sacred implement of the Harmonizer’s, infused with the magician’s qi. The set should be arranged on the table to the east of the altar.

Earth Pentacle –in addition to the Manifestor’s which is initially placed on the northern side of the altar, participants are also encouraged to bring their own pentacles for grounding purposes, though these are not specifically utilized during the ritual.

Tablet of Union – placed in the center of the altar facing so as to be read if one is standing west of the altar facing east, if possible this can be coupled with orgonite and other gemstones/crystals to enhance the energetic charges raised.

Wine – consuming consecrated wine is part of this version of the ritual. If you chose to adapt this portion for your own working, every participant should be encouraged to bring a bottle of red wine in offering to the camaraderie of the event. Non-alcoholic sparkling cider or similar beverages may be substituted where appropriate. And don’t forget to make sure someone brings a wine key.

Potluck Dish – a communal meal is part of the ritual, and so all participants are also encouraged to bring a dish to share with the group. As the operation focuses on raising and harnessing the energies of Health, Peace, Joy, Strength, and Wealth, participants are encouraged to consider these correspondences when selecting the food (and wine) to provide. The host should also ensure there is a plate of bread and salt available at the entrance to the temple space, at least enough for each participant to receive a sufficient mouthful each.

Charged Water Jars – one of the main focuses of this operation is to charge jars of water with the appropriate energies of each stage, and then incorporate that water into the Tea Ceremony. Ideally these jars have been prepared well in advance of the ritual. Though you are encouraged to customize as befits your needs, in the case of this ritual, the glass jars chosen were simple baby food jars, which were first cleaned and sterilized. The lids were spray-painted colors which corresponded with the energies they were to be attuned to (and labeled as such), and the glass sides of the jars were etched with the words and planetary symbols appropriate to each operation. Additionally, in each jar were placed two gemstones also with the appropriate correspondences, and then filled with pure boiling water which excites the energetic process, as well as aids in vacuum sealing the lids shut as the water cools. I recommend first soaking the gemstones in salt water and leaving them outside in the sun and moonlight for 24 hours to remove any latent negative entanglements, then rest them all in a bowl of brown rice for an additional 24 hours to balance their ying-yang energies before placing them in the final water jars. The jars should then be set somewhere where they will receive direct sun and moonlight. Though in theory the energies of the water will become attuned to the crystals/intention of the inscriptions within 24 hours, pre-charging them for longer can certainly not hurt. Indeed, our own jars had been created over a month prior to the actual evening of the ritual for which they were made. What follows are the gemstones chosen for that particular operation, though countless other “cocktails” are possible and may be more suited to your own needs.

  • Tourmaline and Carnelion (for Health/Mercury)
  • Amethyst and Emerald (for Peace/Venus)
  • Tiger’s Eye and Fire Agate (for Joy/Sol)
  • Kyanite and Ruby (for Strength/Mars)
  • Citrine and Fluorite (for Wealth/Jupiter)

Offerings – over the course of this ritual working, various offerings are made and placed at the four corners of the altar by the Offerates. Though naturally modifications can be made to suit individual purposes, what follows are the offering chosen for this particular working. Though the host (likely the Officiate) should ensure that enough of the following is on hand for the purpose of the ritual, participants are also encouraged to bring their own offering of one or more of the following items (or their own choices for appropriated corresponded offerings).

Incense

  • Smudge, such as White Sage (for Opening/Banishing)
  • Frankincense & Myrrh (for Health/Mercury)
  • Tranquility (for Peace/Venus)
  • Amber Flame (for Joy/Sol)
  • Dragon’s Blood (for Strength/Mars)
  • Red Ginger (for Wealth/Jupiter)

Alcohol

  • Rum (for Health/Mercury)
  • Apple Pie Moonshine (for Peace/Venus)
  • Cinnamon Whiskey (for Joy/Sol)
  • Jägermeister (for Strength/Mars)
  • Sapphire Gin (for Wealth/Jupiter)

Teas – although these teas are ceremonially prepared and ingested by the participants, one cup of each tea is first placed in offering to the spirits before the magicians partake.

  • Hand-rolled Budset Alishan Biluochun Liu Cha (Green Snail Spring) – (for Health/Mercury)
  • Tie Luo Han Wuyi Shan Oolong Yan Cha (Iron Arhat) – (for Peace/Venus)
  • Ancient Tree Feng Qing Dianhong Cha – (for Joy/Sol)
  • 1990 Shou Puerh Cha – (for Strength/Mars)
  • Gaoshan Nantou Jin Xuan Oolong Cha (High Mountain Milk Oolong) – (for Wealth/Jupiter)

Tobacco

  • E-cigarette vape “juice” (for Health/Mercury)
  • Menthol or Light cigarettes (for Peace/Venus)
  • Regular cigarettes (for Joy/Sol)
  • Cigars (for Strength/Mars)
  • Pipe tobacco (for Wealth/Jupiter)

Candles

  • a single silver or purple candle should be available for the second stage of the working (Lunar)
  • a blue, purple, or gold candle (or candles if each participant will be using their own votive candle) should be available for the seventh stage (Wealth/Jupiter)
  • white candles or other light sources should also be available for the purpose of actual seeing throughout the entire working, and can be positioned on the table or elsewhere in the temple space where appropriate.

Talisman – or Amulet if done during the waning moon, prior to arriving, each participant should prepare a talisman attributed to Mercurial forces for the purposes of drawing positive, healthy energy to the bearer (or banishing illness in the case of amulet creation). The ritual’s host should also provide pens, paper or other appropriate material for participants who arrive without a talisman to create their own when time permits.

Banishing Soap – participants should check their bathrooms for those little slivers of soap, and if they have ones lying around that are big enough to inscribe a single word on, they should bring any they have to the ritual. The host should also ensure enough extra pieces have been prepared for each of the participants. 99% pure ivory soap sliced into very thin blocks is ideal for the purposes of this operation.

Sigil Accoutrements – the host should also ensure enough pens and paper (scrap and otherwise) are available for the participant’s use. There should also be an appropriate receptacle to place the pieces of paper once they are set alight. Additionally tools for carving symbols into wax would also be useful to have on hand. There is one last preparation that should be made prior to the actual ritual. The host should create a large sigilized version of the phrase “My comrades and I are worthy of infinite success”. This should be hung flat on the ceiling above the altar, but should be easily removable for it will be needed at the end of the ritual. The intention of this sigil is to absorb any “untapped” energy raised during the evening, and the released charge functions as a “doubling down” on all the previous evening’s workings. You are free to use the sigil (below) I have designed for this purpose, as it seeks infinite success for all those entangled with me, and as you’re now reading my ritual, we are now technically so linked. However, if you do use mine rather than create your own, don’t be surprised if it is actually myself and/or my group of friends who reap some (or all) of the benefits of your labor.

Flash paper – for the invocation

Oils – any magickal oils of the appropriate correspondences to the five energies raised (Health, Peace, Joy, Strength, and Wealth) would be appropriate to have on hand. Additionally, pure spring water or holy water should be available for purification purposes (particularly for any participants who missed their Ritual Bath). Oil of Abramelon would also be appropriate for those who wish to anoint themselves before the ritual begins.

Bell or Chime – this is rung by the Officiate at the opening and closing, but need not be kept on the altar.

Laser pointers – an option for the final operation of the night, encourage all participants to bring one or more laser pointers they might own. I theorize they can be very useful for focusing attention while charging larger sigils, and I’ve included an option to utilize this in this ritual.

Music – music is audible emotion, and so a good playlist for ritual purposes serves a two-fold function of helping reinforce the Force generated by the participant’s focus as well as setting a natural rhythm to the stages of the working. I fully suspect if nowhere else this is the part of the ritual that will receive the most customization, but what follows are just a few suggestions of music that could be incorporated into these operations.

  • Ninth Gate () (for the Greater Lord’s Prayer and the Qabbalistic Ankh)
  • “Sirius B” by Therion (3:44) (for LIRP and LIRH)
  • “Can I” by Alina Baraz & Galimatis (3:45) (Lunar trance offering)
  • “Resolution” by VNV Nation (6:16) (Empowering for Health/Mercury)
  • “Goodbye” by Toe (7:01) (Harmonizing for Health/Mercury)
  • Beethoven’s 6th Symphony: Pastoral (Empowering for Peace/Venus)
  • “Passaggio” by Lavinia Meijer (4:16) & “Nuvole Bianche” by Lavinia Meijer (5:05) (Harmonizing for Peace/Venus)
  • Beethoven’s 9th Symphony: Ode to Joy (3:47) (Empowering for Joy/Sol)
  • “Sé lest” by Sigur Rós (8:40) (Harmonizing for Joy/Sol)
  • Nifelheim by Therion (4:36) (Empowering for Strength/Mars)
  • “Nuvole Bianche” by Ludovico Einaudi (5:58) & “Dietro Casa” by Ludovico Einaudi (3:49) (Harmonizing for Strength/Mars)
  • ”Second Waltz” by Dmitri Shostakovich (3:37) (Empowering for Wealth/Jupiter)
  • “La femme d’argent” by AIR (7:11) (Harmonizing  for Wealth/Jupiter)

Participants themselves – this ritual does not call for specific attire (or lack thereof) and indeed long sleeves may make reaching across the altar as well as sitting for long periods (if you opt not to use chairs) problematic in a traditional tau robe. Engendering a spirit of camaraderie is one of the goals of this working, so a casual, comfortable approach is fine (though the usual rules of the temple space should still be observed). If possible each participant should take a Ritual Bath, either before leaving their homes or just before the ritual if possible. If not, then each should to take time to purify and/or anoint themselves (or take whatever steps in preparation for ritual work as is their custom). To add to the potency of the evening, participants might also be encouraged to only refer to one another by their magickal names (and you might even go so far to provide nametags for participants to avoid confusion/embarrassment). The ritual technically begins when the first participant arrives to where the ceremony is being hosted. The host (who may or may not be the Officiate) offers each new guest a tray of bread and salt (which they should partake of) and this greeting along with the Hailing Sign of the Magician (and maybe a nametag):

HOST/OFFICIATE

Greetings to you [MAGICKAL NAME] I bid you welcome to this sacred space. Now with bread and salt between us, I offer my hospitality and the protection of all spirits that watch over this place. May you come in peace and depart in joy.

The Harmonizer is encouraged to arrive early so as to have enough time to set up the Cha-Do set to the east side of the altar on the table. When all have arrived and the ritual is ready to begin, the Officiate should enter the temple space first to make any last minute preparations (lighting candles, etc.) and then take the position directly west of the altar and place the Air Dagger on the east of the altar. The Empowerer then stands to the north of the altar and places the Fire Wand on the south edge of the altar, followed by the Harmonizer in the east with the Water Cup in the west, and the Manifestor in the south with the Earth Pentacle in the north. Once the main participants and their tools have been arranged at the cardinal points, any other participants involved now take seats between them, arrange their cups and pentacles on the table before them, and the formal ritual is ready to begin.

STAGE 1

Opening: “As Below” Malkuth (Earth)

The Officiate begins by lighting the sage and smudging himself to cleanse any last lingering negative entanglements. The smudge is then passed counter-clockwise to the next participant, and the process of self-cleansing can progress as the ritual continues, but the circuit should be completed before the Officiate completes the opening below. As the burning sage is passed, the Officiate sounds the chime eleven times in the 333 55555 333 cadence.

OFFICIATE

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

ALL

Love is the Law, Love under Will.

OFFICIATE

Here now is our mantra for this working. I am worthy of infinite success. My comrades are worthy of infinite success. Our will be done. So mote it be. Let us say it together now as one.

ALL

I am worthy of infinite success. My comrades are worthy of infinite success. Our will be done. So mote it be.

OFFICIATE

Let it be our will that all energies raised tonight not directed by intention shall be utilized in the charging of this sigil created (above) for said purpose. So just as four magicians can do the work of double their number of single practitioners, tonight may the work of 1000 magicians find their successes once again doubled.

Here now set is the formula of miracles.

Once smudging is completed, the practitioners should now all join hands and focus their visualizations on creating a Group Kether while chanting “THE ALL” in as close unison as they are able. Practitioners should even try to sync their breathing, and in this case it should be the Empowerer who leads the group chant, and it to that person each member should attempt to sync their breathing with (pranayama breathing is recommended). As the chanting grows, above the circle of the magicians’ crown charkras should be pictured a roiling cloud of Astral energy comprised of various hues, which partially obscures the brilliant glowing white orb of the All (much like the sun hidden behind a bank of clouds). All participants should endeavor to remain mindful of the presence and power of the Group Kether throughout the entire evening’s working. The energetically charged clouds will occasionally part to allow a brilliant shaft of light to descend and “spotlight” the focus of each particular working (usually the practitioner performing that stage of the ritual or the item being charged). To begin each practitioner should visualize the light descending on their companions one at a time until the entire circle is illuminated in golden-white light, all the while imagining the white orb above growing ever brighter with each recitation. This chanting should continue until the Manifestor deems the space sufficiently charged and purified for the purposes of the ritual. When that point is reached the Manifestor breaks the circle of hands, knocks on the table three times, and all the practitioners clap their hands to break the cycle and repeats the group mantra.

ALL

I am worthy of infinite success. My comrades are worthy of infinite success. Our will be done. So mote it be.

OFFICIATE

I now declare this temple duly opened. Let us piece the Veil, and for a time, we leave the Mortal World behind.

The Officiate then stands west of the altar and performs the Qabbalistic Ankh. The playlist for the evening should now be started and all participants should focus on the light of the Group Kether to descend upon the Officiate as these rituals are performed.

THE QABBALISTIC ANHK

Begin facing east with your hands clasped in prayer over your heart and begin the recitation of the Greater Lord’s Prayer.

Holy, holy, holy art Thou, Lord of the Universe, (as you say this raise your clasped hands overhead)

Who works in silence, and naught but silence can express. (bring your hands down to your heart and for one brief moment attempt to annihilate all thought)

Holy art Thou, whom Nature hath not formed. (point your clasped hands at your feet)

Holy art Thou, the omniscient and omnipresent, invincible and infinite one… Lord of the Light and of the Darkness! (as you say this stretch your arms outwards in the shape of a cross)

In gratitude we pray… (now fold your hands in prayer over your heart once again)

Our Father, who art in Kether,

Hallowed by thy names.

Our kingdom come, our will be done.

As above so below, as within so without.

Give us this day our share of Abundance,

And forgive us our karmic debt.

As we forgive those indebted to us.

And lead us not from our True Will,

But deliver us from evil, and from good.

Still facing east, make the Sign of Silence and then taking three deep breaths sweep your right hand backwards in parallel to where you will establish your magick circle and cry ΑΠΟ, ΠΑΝΤΟΣ ΚΑΚΟΔΑΙΜΟΝΟΣ (APOP PANTOS KAKADAIMONOIS)! Then bring your foot down in a heavy stomp while exhaling forcefully and willing all unwanted energies from your sacred circle in one great rush (I clench my fists as I do this and push my forearms outward physically as I sometimes feel actual energetic resistance and this motion helps break through that). Once your space is clear, make the Sign of Silence and take a satisfied moment to reflect. After recognition of the Most High, this is a sufficient banishment by fiat, as you are casting out any energy incongruent with the goals of your Higher Self. I’d advise any magician who feels this is an insufficient method to cast out negativity, to examine if their own fears of inadequacy might not be at the root of their skepticism.

Now imagine the light of Kether descending to encircle your head in a halo of white light. Then touch your crown chakra and draw down that light with your finger to your 3rd eye chakra while intoning the word ΣΟΙ (SOI). While still intoning the word, draw a red invoking pentacle of earth overtop your forehead and visualize awaking an indigo-violet serpent of light that uncoils from your pineal gland and emerges from your forehead to align with the pathway of your True Will (a.k.a. opening your 3rd eye). How you draw this red pentacle will depend on whether you are an introvert or an extravert, so draw it in the direction that feels invoking to you.

Touch your genitals and say Ο ΦΑΛΛΗ (O PHALAE) while visualizing the light continuing further down through your spine to connect to your terra chakra between your ankles.

Touch your fingers to your heart and intone the name of your Holy Guardian Angel (or your magickal name). While still vibrating the name, draw a loop of light from your heart, up over your head and back down to your heart (like the handle of the crux ansata). Imagine this has created a loop of energy that keeps a cycling current of your kundalini shakti raised from all escaping out of the top of your head (or between your feet).

Intone the word ΙΣΞΥΡΟΣ (ESKEROS) and as you do so, with your right hand touch your right shoulder, then point to the south, first with your fingers, then with your palms and project your energy outward in a white line to connect with the “dormant” pentacle (and hexagram) waiting there to be (further) charged by your Pentagram ritual.

Then intone the word ΕΥΞΑΡΙΣΤΟΣ (EUKARISTOS) and as you do so, with your left hand touch your heart, then left shoulder, then point to the north, first with your fingers, then with your palms and project your energy outward to connect with the pentacle there as well.

You should now visualize a brilliant ankh of light blazing within yourself, which connects you from Kether above to Malkuth below, from the polar opposite edges of infinity, and also to oneself. With your arms still outstretched and still projecting energy, turn 90 degrees clockwise along the path of your magick circle so your palms now face the pentacles to the east and west. Then say ΑΓΙΟΣ (HAGIOS) and with an exhalation project another line of energy in both directions to connect with the pentacles there as well. Turn clockwise 90 degrees again and repeat this operation twice more until, having thrice intoned ΑΓΙΟΣ, you are back facing east. This establishes the circle & cross of earth beneath your feet, which becomes the symbol of your entire material universe.

Now facing east, draw in a deep breath, turn your palms inward, and sharply clap your hands together to complete the circle of energy, and in the same motion sweep your hands up over your head and into the column of light that you are standing within. With a long drawn-out intonation say ΙΑΩ (EE AH OH) and as you speak each syllable bring your folded hands down to your 3rd eye, throat, and heart chakras respectively. As you do so, you should visualize the cross of earth beneath you shrinking down (or perhaps you are growing) to where the entire universe is as small as (and aligned with) the terra chakra between your feet, leaving you separate, above, and removed from the Material (having called down the Astral world to overlap this one). From the start, you may even wish to place your actual earth pentacle on the floor between your feet for this ritual to further reinforce this correlation.

Once again make the Sign of Silence and take a moment and consider the light of Kether, shining down on you from above but still infinitely beyond your reach. Then say meaningfully “I am alone, there is no god where I am”. The magician should immediately follow with the performance of one’s Pentagram ritual.

The Officiate then proceeds to perform the Lesser Invoking Ritual of the Pentagram. The group is encouraged to add their own visualizations to this operation, and should specifically be focusing the shaft of the light from the Group Kether upon the magician leading the operation.

It is also advisable afterwards that the Officiate additionally perform the Lesser Invoking Ritual of the Hexagram.

Once complete, the Officiate consults the Diviner and asks “DIVINER, have we the necessary Purity, Harmony, and Strength to continue in our Great Work? If we should lack any of these things, or aught else, please make them known to us now.”

The Diviner then proceeds to do a divination for this question, and may consult other participants if desired. If the group is lacking in Harmony, let the Empowerer repeat the Group Kether exercise above. If it is Strength that is lacking, the Officiate, Empowerer, or any other participant may lead the group in a Middle Pillar exercise. If it is Purity that is required, the Officiate can lead an Instant Relaxation meditation, or can use a version of this prayer often utilized for ritual cleansing. This should be repeatedly intoned, chanted, or sung in unison all the while visualizing the brilliant white light of the Group Kether bathing the group in purity, removing all doubt, fear, or other entanglements that distract a magician from the single-minded purity of knowing his True Will. As before, the Manifestor calls an end to this operation, and the group mantra is repeated, as above in the Group Kether exercise.

Asperges me Domine, luxos et mundabor. Lavabis me, et super nivem dealbabor.

(Cleanse me, O Lord with light and I shall be clean. Wash me, and I shall be as white as snow.)

After these operations are complete, the Officiate consults the Diviner with the same question as before, and again the group should be committed to heeding the Diviner’s advice, taking whatever steps are necessary as a group to satisfy this question before proceeding to Stage 2.

STAGE 2

Attunement: “So Above” Yesod (Luna)

The Officiate then turns to the Ambassador of Good Cheer and bids him prepare the first bottle(s) of wine for consumption. Before each bottle is opened, the Ambassador should lead the following prayer. While performing this, the group should focus their intention on the light of the Group Kether, and the Archangels called that stand behind the cardinal pentacles in tandem, to charge the wine with the energies of the prayer.

AMBASSADOR

O Archangel RAPHAEL! Bless and sanctify this drink that it shall serve as a source of

the inspiration of endeavor.

O Archangel MICHAEL! Bless and invigorate this drink that it shall serve as a source of

the courage which overcomes fear.

O Archangel GABRIEL! Bless and purify this drink that it shall serve as a vehicle for

the ecstasy of pure Love under Will.

O Archangel URIEL! Bless and harmonize this drink that it shall serve as a vehicle for

the joy of man upon earth.

In the name of the Most High, the TETRAGRAMMATON, let it be thus!

ALL

So mote it be.

The Ambassador of Good Cheer must be cautious to not accidentally touch another magician’s sacred chalice, or risk disrupting the altar, but either by reaching and pouring or by passing the bottles clockwise, each participant should be given a glass of wine, to be drunk for enjoyment (and refilled as deemed appropriate by the Ambassador) throughout the night’s working. When a new bottle needs to be opened, the group should pause between operations to allow the Ambassador the figurative/ literal (astral) “spotlight” to repeat the consecration prayer anew.

Once the wine has been distributed the participants should raises their glasses to toast one another and any and all entities who will take part in the evening’s working. Officiate begins again by repeating the group mantra, which should be said as a group once for each participant in the working. Once this is complete, the participants “clink and drink” on the last “So mote it be”.

It is now time to make the first offering of the evening. The silver candle is produced by one of the Offerates. If one of the Offerates has prepared an original poem, song, or dance special for this event, it should be performed at this point “for” the candle, so to speak. Once that is completed (or otherwise) the candle is lit and placed on the altar, and the Officiate should say the following.

OFFERATE

As the essence of Air and Fire infuse with Earth and Water, in gratitude we make this offering to any and all Lunar spirits present, or who will be further called by this working.

The candle is a perfect representation of the four elements in one, a form we believe to be pleasing to you, that you will lend favorable aid to the Great Work we set about.

In the name of the Archangel GABRIEL, let it be thus!

ALL

So mote it be.

The participants should then take a few moments to relax and trance out with the candle flame (and appropriate song) a little. They should concentrate on feelings of gratitude for their magickal successes thus far and successes yet to come in this working. The candle is made in offering so it should not be changed with any specific intention beyond gratitude. There will be plenty to ask for later, for now just a focus on the true privilege to have one’s life influenced by the divine should be enough. The Manifestor need not call an end to this session; the participants should just relax for the full extent of the song.

For ritual purposes, the candle should be left on the altar until it has completely burned down. If the ritual should be completed before the candle finishes burning down, it can be extinguished, but should be relit again in a ritual space when time permits, and the offering allowed to be completed.

After this period of trance and relaxation, the Officiate should motion for the other three main operators to stand with him. They then (carefully) perform the following series of actions:

  • The Officiate retrieves his Air Dagger from the eastern side of the altar, points it skyward and says: “AS ABOVE, SO BELOW.”
  • The Empowerer retrieves his Fire Wand from the southern side of the altar, points it at the altar and says: “AS BELOW, SO ABOVE.”
  • The Harmonizer retrieves his Water Cup from the western side of the altar, points it skyward and says “AS WITHIN, SO WITHOUT.”
  • The Manifestor retrieves his Earth Pentacle from the northern side of the altar, points it at the altar and says: “AS WITHOUT, SO WITHIN.”
  • The Officiate then points his Air Dagger towards the altar and says “AS BELOW, SO ABOVE” before placing the dagger on the western side of the altar.
  • The Empowerer then points his Fire Wand skyward and says “AS ABOVE, SO BELOW” before placing the wand on the northern side of the altar.
  • The Harmonizer then points his Water Cup towards the altar and says “AS WITHOUT, SO WITHIN” before placing the cup on the eastern side of the altar.
  • The Manifestor then points his Earth Pentacle skyward and says “AS WITHIN, SO WITHOUT” before placing the pentacle on the southern side of the altar.
  • The Officiate then makes the Sign of the Portal (specifically the Rending of the Veil) while saying “AS BEHIND, SO AFORE. AS AFORE… SO BEHIND!”
  • After three long deep breaths, the Officiate completes the operation by saying “The Mortal Veil is left behind; walk us now among the gods divine.”

The transposition of tool placements on the altar serves a two-fold function. One it creates a sense of “energetic disorientation” for the group, akin to plunging beneath the surface of deep water and briefly losing one’s sense of direction in this “new world”. It signifies the magicians have moved “beyond the looking glass” into the realms beyond that look down on us. Additionally, and far more practically, swapping the tools now means the four main operators don’t have to reach past their own edge of the altar to retrieve their tools when used in further operations (and risk touching ones that aren’t theirs). To me, this even trumps the first reason.  This marks the end of Stage 2.

STAGE 3

Operation: “Health” Hod (Mercury)

The Officiate now stands and gives the following affirmation. At some point during this delivery the water jar that is intended for the Health operation should be retrieved by the Officiate and laid on the altar on the Tablet of Union.

OFFICIATE

Know we true that all creation,

All spirit, form, and deviation,

From imagination to manifestation,

And all sensation from fear to elation…

Above, below have correlation.

Our concentration is activation,

Communication of transformation,

Across the cosmic civilization.

This is the foundation of our operation,

For all that is… is but vibration.

This is now our comprehension,

That matter is energy’s last extension.

Vibrating far too slow to mention,

But all the same ‘neath Saturn’s tension.

Still… some forms boast of more retention,

To hold a suspension of our attention.

And empowered, a vehicle for its ascension,

In accordance with laws of magickal convention,

To the astral realms shaping our dimension,

And fill the void of our truest intention.

I place now on the altar this container of water. Its glass has been etched with the words and symbols to infuse its contents with the power of Health and contains crystals of tourmaline and carnelian to further attune and enhance these energies within the water. We now call upon the spirits to aid us in this working, to bless, sanctify, and invigorate the waters of this vessel, so that those who will partake of it will display what we understand to be the eight signs of optimal health. And these are: Vitality, Appetite, Deep & Sound Sleep, Good Memory, Good Humor, Generosity, Clear Thinking & Precise Action, and finally a Realization of Oneness with All Things.

In the name of the Archangels RAPHAEL and MICHAEL, let it be thus!

ALL

So mote it be.

The Officiate now sits and the Offerate seated in the northwest corner of the altar (between the Officiate and the Empowerer) makes the first of four offerings for the Health operation. The appropriate incense should be lit and placed in offering on the northwest corner of the altar, along with leading the following prayer.

As the essences of Air and Fire infuse, in gratitude we make this offering to any and all Mercurial spirits present, or who will be further called by this working. The incense is of a scent we believe to be pleasing to you, that you will lend favorable aid to the Great Work we set about.

In the name of the Archangels RAPHAEL and MICHAEL, let it be thus!

ALL

So mote it be.

The Empowerer now stands and retrieves his Fire Wand from the (northern edge) of the altar as the rest of the group once again joins hands. The Empowerer should take a moment to aspire to the Light, and at the same time the group should now be directing the light of the Group Kether directly on him. As this takes place the group should once again seek to sync breathing with the Empowerer. When he is ready, the Empowerer begins to lead the group in a repetitive chant of the holy God name ALHM (A-LO-HEEM).

As the group chant progresses, the Empowerer should point his wand at the jar of water to be charged and direct the Light to descend down through his body, down his arm and into the wand, and directs its energies forth to charge the water with the powers of Health. The operation should be allowed to continue for a few minutes (or the full course of an appropriate song), all the while the chanting should grow louder and more intense until finally the Manifestor is satisfied the water is sufficiently charged for the purposes of the ritual. The Manifestor then breaks the circle of hands, knocks on the table three times, and the group then claps their hands as one breaking the circle of energy, and then collectively all making the Sign of the Enterer inwards towards the jar, intones the rest of the God name TZVHT (TZA-VAH-OHT) finalizing the water’s charging.

The Empower now replaces his wand on the northern edge of the altar. He then sits and the Offerate seated in the northeast corner of the altar (between the Empowerer and the Hamonizer) makes the second of four offerings for the Health operation. The appropriate alcohol should be poured and placed in offering on the northeast corner of the altar, along with leading the following prayer.

As the essences of Fire and Water infuse, in gratitude we make this offering to any and all Mercurial spirits present, or who will be further called by this working. The alcohol is of a flavor we believe to be pleasing to you, that you will lend favorable aid to the Great Work we set about.

In the name of the Archangels RAPHAEL and MICHAEL, let it be thus!

ALL

So mote it be.

The Harmonizer now retrieves the charged jar of water from the altar and incorporates it into his ritual tea preparation for this stage of the operation. Enough tea should be prepared so that each participant will receive a cup, but the first cup should be poured into a special receptacle that will be placed in offering onto the altar by one of the Offerates.

The Offerate seated in the southeast corner of the altar (between the Harmonizer and the Manifestor) now makes the third of four offerings for the Health operation. The now energetically charged tea is placed in offering on the southeast corner of the altar, along with leading the following prayer.

As the essences of Water and Earth infuse, in gratitude we make this offering to any and all Mercurial spirits present, or who will be further called by this working. The tea is of a flavor we believe to be pleasing to you, that you will lend favorable aid to the Great Work we set about.

In the name of the Archangels RAPHAEL and MICHAEL, let it be thus!

ALL

So mote it be.

The cups of prepared tea are then passed out clockwise around the table by the Harmonizer, and everyone should take care not to spill any tea of their own or anyone else’s. This is now sacred substance and should be treated as such, preciously and delicately.

Once the cups have all been distributed, the Manifestor should stand and assess the company and display before him. The Manifestor makes the final call that the operation was a success, and may lead his own additional group operations, consult the Diviner, use his Earth Pentacle to ground or banish anything that feels “off”, or anything else deemed important before the group proceeds to ingest the tea. If one or more participants wish, they may also consult the Diviner if they are unsure if they themselves should partake of the tea, but once satisfied, the Manifestor retrieves his pentacle, holds it skyward and simply says “It is done. May all the powers of Health now crystalize in our blood. So mote it be.” and then (replacing the pentacle) leads the group mantra, once again one recitation for every participant assembled.

I am worthy of infinite success. My comrades are worthy of infinite success. Our will be done. So mote it be.

With a silent salute (a toast) the participants then solemnly ingest the tea and take few moments to appreciate any new sensations they experience before the last Offerate continues with the final offering.

The Offerate seated in the southwest corner of the altar (between the Manifestor and the Officiate) now makes the fourth of four offerings for the Health operation. The appropriate tobacco is placed in offering on the southwest corner of the altar, along with leading the following prayer.

As the essences of Earth and Air infuse, in gratitude we make this offering to any and all Mercurial spirits present, or who will be further called by this working. The tobacco is of a scent we believe to be pleasing to you, that you will lend favorable aid to the Great Work we set about.

In the name of the Archangels RAPHAEL and MICHAEL, let it be thus!

ALL

So mote it be.

Once complete, the Officiate consults the Diviner and asks “DIVINER, have we the necessary Purity, Harmony, and Strength to continue in our Great Work? If we should lack any of these things, or aught else, please make them known to us now.” And again the group should ensure the Diviner is satisfied the group is sufficiently ready to create their health talismans before continuing any further.

The Officiate then produces his (constructed by now) health talisman and bids the others to do the same. Each participant should hold the talisman in their right hand, and (aided by the light of the Group Kether) once again repeat the group mantra. While doing so, each participant should focus on directing a strong portion of their own new healthy energy down their right arm and into the material of the talisman, charging it with their intention that the talisman shall continually attract the energies of Health within the auric field of the bearer. As this operation progresses, the participant’s visualization of the Group Kether should once again grow brighter and brighter, illuminating the entire circle of magicians in golden-white light.

The mantra is repeated until the Manifestor is satisfied, and which point he says “It is done. So mote it be.” And with that each participant passes their talisman clockwise to the person on their left. Now each member should direct their energies into their comrade’s item to “double down” on the magickal intention of the health talisman. Again the group mantra is repeated and again it is the Manifestor’s satisfaction that sets the pace, but this process should be repeated again and again until each person has had a chance to charge each of their comrade’s talismans (“doubling down” over and over again). The process is complete when each magician is passed his own original talisman back.

The Officiate then stands and retrieves his Air Dagger from the western edge of the altar. He then places his talisman on the altar and bids the others to do the same. The Officiate then points his dagger skyward and makes the following invocation:

Come, O Beney-Eloheem, servants of God! Surround, consecrate, and charge these talismans with all the powers of bountiful health. Come, O Beney-Eloheem, servants of God!

O Archangel RAPHAEL, O Archangel MICHAEL, help thy humble servants! Consecrate and charge these talismans with all the powers of bountiful health. O Archangel RAPHAEL, O Archangel MICHAEL, help thy humble servants!

I invoke the power of ALHM TZVHT (A-LO-HEEM, TZA-VAH-OHT).  Consecrate these talismans for thy own name’s sake. By that most holy name ALHM TZVHT, let it be thus!

ALL

So mote it be.

The Officiate then points his Air Dagger at one of the talismans on the altar and overtop it draws eight separate invoking pentacles of earth, and with each pentacle drawn the Officiate should vibrate the God name ALHM TZVHT and then thrust the dagger point through the middle of each star. On the eighth pentacle the group should join in with vibrating the last ALHM TZVHT. After the eight pentacles have been formed, the Officiate then moves to the talisman just clockwise to the completed one and repeats the operation of eight stars and intonations. After all talismans have been so enchanted, all four main operators stand and retrieve their magickal implements from the altar and point them towards the operator directly across from them forming a cross over the altar and the talismans lying there. The Officiate then leads the four operators in speaking this final affirmation, or the Officiate may opt to say this last part alone.

OFFICIATE

These talismans now rightly yield,

A power in our etheric field.

That we may be the picture of health,

Envisioned by our higher self.

From now unto eternity,

Our will be done. So mote it be.

The magickal weapons are then replaced on the altar and the participants can now retrieve their talismans (with the left hand is preferred), and can certainly opt to put them on right away if they so desire. This marks the end of Stage 3.

STAGE 4

Operation: “Peace” Netzach (Venus)

The Officiate now stands and gives the following affirmation. At some point during this delivery the water jar that is intended for the Peace operation should be retrieved by the Officiate and laid on the altar on the Tablet of Union.

OFFICIATE

XXXXXX

I place now on the altar this container of water. Its glass has been etched with the words and symbols to infuse its contents with the power of Peace and contains crystals of amethyst and emerald to further attune and enhance these energies within the water. We now call upon the spirits to aid us in this working, to bless, sanctify, and invigorate the waters of this vessel, so that those who will partake of it will be overcome with a sense of tranquility, contentment, and the true inner peace that arises when one’s burdens are finally laid down.

In the name of the Archangels HANIEL and GABRIEL, let it be thus!

ALL

So mote it be.

The Officiate now sits and the Offerate seated in the northwest corner of the altar (between the Officiate and the Empowerer) makes the first of four offerings for the Peace operation. The appropriate incense should be lit and placed in offering on the northwest corner of the altar, along with leading the following prayer.

As the essences of Air and Fire infuse, in gratitude we make this offering to any and all Venusian spirits present, or who will be further called by this working. The incense is of a scent we believe to be pleasing to you, that you will lend favorable aid to the Great Work we set about.

In the name of the Archangels HANIEL and GABRIEL, let it be thus!

The Offerate seated in the southwest corner of the altar (between the Manifestor and the Officiate) now makes the fourth of four offerings for the Peace operation. The appropriate tobacco is placed in offering on the southwest corner of the altar, along with leading the following prayer.

Once complete, the Officiate consults the Diviner and asks “DIVINER, have we the necessary Purity, Harmony, and Strength to continue in our Great Work? If we should lack any of these things, or aught else, please make them known to us now.” And again the group should ensure the Diviner is satisfied the group is sufficiently ready to create their banishing soap before continuing any further.

The Officiate then distributes the pieces of soap to the participants counter-clockwise. Carefully using a pin or some other implement, each person should write the name of something in their lives that disrupts their sense of peace and serves them no longer, that they would like to banish from their lives. It is highly advisable to avoid using an actual person’s name, but the idea should be limited to one or two words (and the more specific the better).

Once this is completed, each participant should then hold the soap in their right hand, and (aided by the light of the Group Kether) once again repeat the group mantra. While doing so, each participant should focus on directing a strong portion of their own new peaceful energy down their right arm and into the material of the soap, charging it with strong visualization and their intention that the soap, as it slowly dissolves will bear away the burden incongruent with this feeling, and once gone will leave one with the same sense of peace that one has currently. As this operation progresses, the participant’s visualization of the Group Kether should once again grow brighter and brighter, illuminating the entire circle of magicians in golden-white light.

The mantra is repeated until the Manifestor is satisfied, and which point he says “It is done. So mote it be.” And with that each participant passes their soap counter-clockwise to the person on their right. Now each member should direct their energies into their comrade’s soap to “double down” on the magickal intention of the peace operation. Again the group mantra is repeated and again it is the Manifestor’s satisfaction that sets the pace, but this process should be repeated again and again until each person has had a chance to charge each of their comrade’s soap (“doubling down” over and over again). The process is complete when each magician is passed his own original soap back.

The Officiate then stands and retrieves his Air Dagger from the western edge of the altar. He then places his soap on the altar and bids the others to do the same. The Officiate then points his dagger skyward and makes the following invocation:

Come, O Eloheem, servants of God! Surround, consecrate, and charge these shards of purest soap with all the powers of peaceful relief. Come, O Eloheem, servants of God!

O Archangel HANIEL, O Archangel GABRIEL, help thy humble servants! Consecrate and charge these shards of purest soap with all the powers of peaceful relief. O Archangel HANIEL, O Archangel GABRIEL, help thy humble servants!

I invoke the power of YHVH TZVHT (YOD-HEY-VAHV-HEY, TZ-VAH-OHT).  Consecrate these shards for thy own name’s sake. By that most holy name YHVH TZVHT, let it be thus!

ALL

So mote it be.

The Officiate then points his Air Dagger at one of the shards on the altar and overtop it draws seven separate banishing pentacles of earth, and with each pentacle drawn the Officiate should vibrate the God name YHVH TZVHT and then thrust the dagger point through the middle of each star. On the seventh pentacle the group should join in with vibrating the last YHVH TZVHT. After the seven pentacles have been formed, the Officiate then moves to the shard just counter-clockwise to the completed one and repeats the operation of seven stars and intonations. After all the pieces of soap have been so enchanted, all four main operators stand and retrieve their magickal implements from the altar and point them towards the operator directly across from them forming a cross over the altar and the shards lying there. The Officiate then leads the four operators in speaking this final affirmation, or the Officiate may opt to say this last part alone.

OFFICIATE

These empowered shards now hold a sway

O’er cares and burdens to be borne away.

By waning moon in water placed

And by dissolution e’er erased.

From now unto eternity,

Our will be done. So mote it be.

The magickal weapons are then replaced on the altar and the participants can now retrieve their soap pieces. This marks the end of Stage 4. The magicians should each take their pieces home, the shards should be placed in a bucket of water within their temple space, and the soap allowed to naturally dissolve. This could take weeks or months, depending of the soap used, but the theory is, by the time the soap has completely dissolved, the problem written on it will have vanished as well. The secret, I believe, is not to try to cheat the process. The participants are also advised to wait until the first day of the moon’s waning phase before beginning this part of the operation.

STAGE 5

Operation: “Joy” Tiphareth (Sol)

I place now on the altar this container of water. The Officiate now sits and the Offerate seated in the northwest corner of the altar (between the Officiate and the Empowerer) makes the first of four offerings for the Joy operation. The appropriate incense should be lit and placed in offering on the northwest corner of the altar, along with leading the following prayer.

As the essences of Air and Fire infuse, in gratitude we make this offering to any and all Solar spirits present, or who will be further called by this working. The incense is of a scent we believe to be pleasing to you, that you will lend favorable aid to the Great Work we set about.

Once complete, the Officiate consults the Diviner and asks “DIVINER, have we the necessary Purity, Harmony, and Strength to continue in our Great Work? If we should lack any of these things, or aught else, please make them known to us now.” And again the group should ensure the Diviner is satisfied the group is sufficiently ready to create their sigils before continuing any further.

The sigils can be created as a group now, or participants can produce premade/precharged sigils, but either way they should be created with the intention of drawing something joyful into your life. Participants may also wish to anoint their sigils with appropriate magickal oils as well. Plenty of other resources concerning sigil magick exist elsewhere, so I’ll not belabor the finer points of sigil creation here.

Once this is completed, each participant should then hold the sigil in their right hand, and (aided by the light of the Group Kether) once again repeat the group mantra. While doing so, each participant should focus on directing a strong portion of their own new joyful energy down their right arm and into the material of the sigil, charging it with their intention that the thing that will bring joy into their life will manifest, as the universe will seek to fill the void created by the sigil’s destruction. As this operation progresses, the participant’s visualization of the Group Kether should once again grow brighter and brighter, illuminating the entire circle of magicians in golden-white light.

The mantra is repeated until the Manifestor is satisfied, and which point he says “It is done. So mote it be.” And with that each participant passes their sigil clockwise to the person on their left. Now each member should direct their energies into their comrade’s sigil to “double down” on the magickal intention of the joy operation. Again the group mantra is repeated and again it is the Manifestor’s satisfaction that sets the pace, but this process should be repeated again and again until each person has had a chance to charge each of their comrades’ sigils (“doubling down” over and over again). The process is complete when each magician is passed his own original sigil back.

The Officiate then stands and retrieves his Air Dagger from the western edge of the altar. He then places his sigil on the altar and bids the others to do the same. The Officiate then points his dagger skyward and makes the following invocation:

Come, O Malacheem, servants of God! Surround, consecrate, and charge these sigils with all the powers of pure joy. Come, O Malacheem, servants of God!

O Archangel MICHAEL, O Archangel RAPHAEL, help thy humble servants! Consecrate and charge these sigils with all the powers of pure joy. O Archangel MICHAEL, O Archangel RAPHAEL, help thy humble servants!

I invoke the power of YHVH EL-OH-AH VA-DA-AHT.  Consecrate these sigils for thy own name’s sake. By that most holy name YHVH EL-OH-AH VA-DA-AHT, let it be thus!

ALL

So mote it be.

The Officiate then points his Air Dagger at one of the sigils on the altar and overtop it draws six separate invoking pentacles of earth, and with each pentacle drawn the Officiate should vibrate the God name YHVH EL-OH-AH VA-DA-AHT and then thrust the dagger point through the middle of each star. On the sixth pentacle the group should join in with vibrating the last YHVH EL-OH-AH VA-DA-AHT. After the six pentacles have been formed, the Officiate then moves to the sigil just clockwise to the completed one and repeats the operation of six stars and intonations. After all the sigils have been so enchanted, all four main operators stand and retrieve their magickal implements from the altar and point them towards the operator directly across from them forming a cross over the altar and the sigils lying there. The Officiate then leads the four operators in speaking this final affirmation, or the Officiate may opt to say this last part alone.

OFFICIATE

O manifest that very thing,

Which even now our souls doth sing.

For as below and so above,

All things unite with naught but love.

From now unto eternity,

Our will be done. So mote it be.

The magickal weapons are then replaced on the altar and the participants can now retrieve their sigils (with their left hands). The group then begins to repeat the group mantra, as one by one, starting with the Officiate and moving clockwise, the sigils are placed in candle flame and allowed to burn and be consumed in a proper receptacle. Additionally, there are many schools of thought for achieving the trace mindset and then interrupting it prior to sigil destruction, so the Officiate may opt at some point during the operation (likely before the final affirmation) to attempt to surprise the assembled group of magicians mid-concentration with a “jump scare”. A loud, unexpected “BOO” when things are otherwise peaceful may even be enough to achieve this effect, but the specifics of this likely vary per assembly, so are left to the Officiate in this case. This marks the end of Stage 5.

STAGE 6

Operation: “Strength” Gevurah (Mars)

The Officiate now stands and gives the following affirmation. At some point during this delivery the water jar that is intended for the Strength operation should be retrieved by the Officiate and laid on the altar on the Tablet of Union.

OFFICIATE

XXXXXX

I place now on the altar this container of water. Its glass has been etched with the words and symbols to infuse its contents with the power of Strength and contains crystals of kyanite and ruby to further attune and enhance these energies within the water. We now call upon the spirits to aid us in this working, to bless, sanctify, and invigorate the waters of this vessel, so that those who will partake of it will be overcome with a sense of the unfathomable strength and power of will that resides within our Higher Selves.

In the name of the Archangels KHAMAEL and MICHAEL, let it be thus!

ALL

So mote it be.

The Officiate now sits and the Offerate seated in the northwest corner of the altar (between the Officiate and the Empowerer) makes the first of four offerings for the Strength operation. The appropriate incense should be lit and placed in offering on the northwest corner of the altar, along with leading the following prayer.

As the essences of Air and Fire infuse, in gratitude we make this offering to any and all Martial spirits present, or who will be further called by this working. The incense is of a scent we believe to be pleasing to you, that you will lend favorable aid to the Great Work we set about.

In the name of the Archangels KHAMAEL and MICHAEL, let it be thus!

ALL

So mote it be.

When he is ready, the Empowerer begins to lead the group in a repetitive chant of the holy God name EL-LO-HEEM.

As the group chant progresses, the Empowerer should point his wand at the jar of water to be charged and direct the Light to descend down through his body, down his arm and into the wand, and directs its energies forth to charge the water with the powers of Strength. The operation should be allowed to continue for a few minutes (or the full course of an appropriate song), all the while the chanting should grow louder and more intense until finally the Manifestor is satisfied the water is sufficiently charged for the purposes of the ritual. The Manifestor then breaks the circle of hands, knocks on the table three times, and the group then claps their hands as one breaking the circle of energy, and then collectively all making the Sign of the Enterer inwards towards the jar, intones the rest of the God name GI-BOOR finalizing the water’s charging.

The Empower now replaces his wand on the northern edge of the altar. He then sits and the Offerate seated in the northeast corner of the altar (between the Empowerer and the Hamonizer) makes the second of four offerings for the Strength operation. The appropriate alcohol should be poured and placed in offering on the northeast corner of the altar, along with leading the following prayer.

As the essences of Fire and Water infuse, in gratitude we make this offering to any and all Martial spirits present, or who will be further called by this working. The alcohol is of a flavor we believe to be pleasing to you, that you will lend favorable aid to the Great Work we set about.

In the name of the Archangels KHAMAEL and MICHAEL, let it be thus!

ALL

So mote it be.

The Harmonizer now retrieves the charged jar of water from the altar and incorporates it into his ritual tea preparation for this stage of the operation. Again, enough tea should be prepared so that each participant will receive a cup, but the first cup should be poured into a special receptacle that will be placed in offering onto the altar by one of the Offerates.

The Offerate seated in the southeast corner of the altar (between the Harmonizer and the Manifestor) now makes the third of four offerings for the Strength operation. The now energetically charged tea is placed in offering on the southeast corner of the altar, along with leading the following prayer.

As the essences of Water and Earth infuse, in gratitude we make this offering to any and all Martial spirits present, or who will be further called by this working. The tea is of a flavor we believe to be pleasing to you, that you will lend favorable aid to the Great Work we set about.

In the name of the Archangels KHAMAEL and MICHAEL, let it be thus!

ALL

So mote it be.

The cups of prepared tea are then passed out clockwise around the table by the Harmonizer, and once again everyone should take care not to spill any tea of their own or anyone else’s. This is now sacred substance and should be treated as such, preciously and delicately.

Once the cups have all been distributed, the Manifestor should stand and assess the company and display before him. As always, the Manifestor makes the final call that the operation was a success, and may lead his own additional group operations, consult the Diviner, use his Earth Pentacle to ground or banish anything that feels “off”, or anything else deemed important before the group proceeds to ingest the tea. If one or more participants wish, they may also consult the Diviner if they are unsure if they themselves should partake of the tea, but once satisfied, the Manifestor retrieves his pentacle, holds it skyward and simply says “It is done. May all the powers of Strength now crystalize in our blood.

The Offerate seated in the southwest corner of the altar (between the Manifestor and the Officiate) now makes the fourth of four offerings for the Strength operation. The appropriate tobacco is placed in offering on the southwest corner of the altar, along with leading the following prayer.

As the essences of Earth and Air infuse, in gratitude we make this offering to any and all Martial spirits present, or who will be further called by this working. The tobacco is of a scent we believe to be pleasing to you, that you will lend favorable aid to the Great Work we set about.

In the name of the Archangels KHAMAEL and MICHAEL, let it be thus!

ALL

So mote it be.

Once complete, the Officiate consults the Diviner and asks “DIVINER, have we the necessary Purity, Harmony, and Strength to continue in our Great Work? If we should lack any of these things, or aught else, please make them known to us now.” And again the group should ensure the Diviner is satisfied but in the case of this operation, it is the Invoker who should be the “most” prepared.

The Invoker makes his final preparations to assume the form of the god Horus (or some similar Martial god-form). In his own time, the Invoker performs the Khem cross, and then leads the group in the following:

INVOKER

O most holy Dark Mother, great stellar Queen, bless this our sacred work. Send forth Thy perfect Red King of Sulphur’s holy flame. May it empower us and forever guide us through the darkness. This as with all things we do in the Love of Thee. Amen

ALL

So mote it be.

The Invoker then goes to all four quarters and draws the invoking Pentagram of Active Spirit , the invoking Fire Pentagram, the invoking hexagram of Mars, and then to center above the altar to draw the forces of the Sephiroth into the circles axiom /the fire . The Invoker then begins the invocation of Horus/Ra Hoor Khuit.

INVOKER

O Lord Horus, I call to you. Thou who art the almighty god of battles, triumphant in war! Thou who are the Lord of the new aeon! Crowned and conquering child Horus I invoke thee.

Most holy ruler of the great house of victory, thee I invoke! O mighty avenging god, with your spear you strike swiftly at the heart of your enemies. All who oppose thee fall in defeat, and their blood flows beneath you like the eternal waters of the Nile.

O mighty King Horus, I call to you through empyrean heights and infernal depths to this sacred temple.  Flow into this circle and through the gate of my soul. O thou who art as a divine hawk. Thou art a mighty predator and tonight your prey is weakness.

Hear me Horus, thee thee I invoke! O Ra Hoor Khuit, hear me this night. Empower me with thy form. Lord Horus, enter this circle and flow through me your vessel.

Horus! Horus!! Horus!!! Horus!!!! Horus!!!!!

The Invoker now assumes the godform, and once the change is upon him, in his own time continues. As the Invoker progresses with the next stage he should hand around the flash paper which will serve to absorb the weakness of each participant to be given over in sacrifice to the god. The Invoker leads each participant on a personal recitation of the oath below, and as before the process moves from one magician to the next around the circle clockwise. After this oath has been made by all participants, the last person hands the paper back to the Invoker.

INVOKER

I am the Lord Horus. I am the hawk headed lord of the aeon. I embody strength and destroy weakness. I am the crowned and conquering one! That which no longer serves you shall be given in offering to me.

INVOKER/PARTICIPANT(S)

I [MAGICKAL NAME] offer this my weakness

to be consumed in the transformative fire

so that henceforth the spirit of Strength

will be embodied and remain in me.

INVOKER

O divine Horus Ra Hoor Khuit, take from us this our weakness so that it may be consumed in this holy fire. As the flame rises so does the divine power of Strength arise in us!

Thou child, holy thy name and undefiled, thy reign is come thy will is done, bring us through midnight to the sun. This night we meet, this oath we swear, as we enflame ourselves with prayer. There is no grace, there is no guilt, this is no law but do what thou wilt!!!

The participants now all say “Ra Hoor Khuit” five times and at each recitation they make the Sign of the Enterer towards the candle flame. Immediately after, the Invoker casts the weakness paper into the fire, says “Abrahadabra”. Then all make the Sign of Silence and say “So mote it be.”

This marks the end of Stage 6.

STAGE 7

Operation: “Wealth” Chesed (Jupiter)

The Officiate now stands and gives the following affirmation. At some point during this delivery the water jar that is intended for the Wealth operation should be retrieved by the Officiate and laid on the altar on the Tablet of Union.

OFFICIATE

I place now on the altar this container of water. Its glass has been etched with the words and symbols to infuse its contents with the power of Wealth and contains crystals of citrine and fluorite to further attune and enhance these energies within the water. We now call upon the spirits to aid us in this working, to bless, sanctify, and invigorate the waters of this vessel, so that those who will partake of it will be overcome with an attitude of gratitude for the Abundance we already dwell in, and for all the wonderful gifts yet to manifest.

In the name of the Archangels TZADKIEL and RAPHAEL, let it be thus!

ALL

So mote it be.

The Officiate now sits and the Offerate seated in the northwest corner of the altar (between the Officiate and the Empowerer) makes the first of four offerings for the Wealth operation. The appropriate incense should be lit and placed in offering on the northwest corner of the altar, along with leading the following prayer.

As the essences of Air and Fire infuse, in gratitude we make this offering to any and all Jupiterial spirits present, or who will be further called by this working. The incense is of a scent we believe to be pleasing to you, that you will lend favorable aid to the Great Work we set about.

The Empower now replaces his wand on the northern edge of the altar. He then sits and the Offerate seated in the northeast corner of the altar (between the Empowerer and the Hamonizer) makes the second of four offerings for the Wealth operation. Once complete, the Officiate consults the Diviner and asks “DIVINER, have we the necessary Purity, Harmony, and Strength to continue in our Great Work? If we should lack any of these things, or aught else, please make them known to us now.” And again the group should ensure the Diviner is satisfied the group is sufficiently ready to create their wealth drawing candles before continuing any further.

Now, while there is a great deal of information already available concerning the art of candle magick, I thought I might share a few schools of thought, which may aid some practitioners in this (or some of the previous operations). What magicians have long known (and science is quickly catching up to understand) is that some forms of matter are more structured to hold certain energetic charges than others. Water is one, as we have been demonstrating throughout this ritual, but another popular form is the wonderfully permeable substance of wax. Where attention goes, energy flows, and if we are able to combine the Form of our mental visualizations (which should actually engage all five senses) with the Force of our emotional experience as if what we desire is happening in the moment (for the unconscious mind does not understand positive or negative, past or future… only what is experienced in the Ever-present Now), that energy (read: scalar wave) can be directed through intention into the physical form of the candle. Unlike sigil magick, where instructions to the unconscious are relayed via symbol during a brief state of gnosis (achieved through surprise, orgasm, etc.) candle magick can be performed using a period of intense, emotional projection into the candle, followed by a period of trance, where the energy is released and the fire of the candle acts as an astral gateway for the intention. When the candle is consumed by flame a vacuum is created, and the Universe (abhorring such a thing) rushes in to fill it in accordance with the law of least resistance.

One possible approach to creating a wealth drawing candle it to imagine oneself sitting on a large pile of money, and one should spend the period of visualization seeing, feeling, hearing, smelling, and yes even tasting the money while combining it with a feeling of intense gratitude, as if you have already received the gift, and the act of burning the candle in offering to the spirits is just a formality. You could also call this absolute faith. Another approach is to imagine a specific occurrence (or a specific sum) and spend one’s visualization focused on the positive experiences (physical, mental, spiritual) one will experience once it comes to pass (but happening now). In either event, you might start to see the advantage for the magician to empower himself (via the tea ceremony or some other Eucharistic rite) with positive energy and achieving an emotional state congruent with what he hopes to achieve before attempting this, or perhaps any operation.

Practically speaking, each participant should write their statement of intent for this operation on a piece of paper that will be placed beneath the candle when it is lit on the altar. Participants may also wish to carve sigils into the wax and/or dress it with magickal oils appropriate to drawing wealth to oneself. This also means the oil should be applied clockwise and ends to middle (or at least top to bottom). Participants may prepare their candles at this stage of the ritual, or you may opt that all participants should dress their candles in advance. If time is on your side you may wish to opt for the former.

Regardless, once this is completed, each participant should then hold the candle in their right hand, and (aided by the light of the Group Kether) once again repeat the group mantra. While doing so, each participant should focus on directing a strong portion of their own new wealth energy down their right arm and into the material of the candle, charging it with their intention as described above. As this operation progresses, the participant’s visualization of the Group Kether should once again grow brighter and brighter, illuminating the entire circle of magicians in golden-white light.

The mantra is repeated until the Manifestor is satisfied, and which point he says “It is done. So mote it be.” And with that each participant passes their candle clockwise to the person on their left. Now each member should direct their energies into their comrade’s candle to “double down” on the magickal intention of the wealth operation. Again the group mantra is repeated and again it is the Manifestor’s satisfaction that sets the pace, but this process should be repeated again and again until each person has had a chance to charge each of their comrades’ candles (“doubling down” over and over again). The process is complete when each magician is passed his own original candle back.

The Officiate then stands and retrieves his Air Dagger from the western edge of the altar. He then places his candle on the altar and bids the others to do the same. The Officiate then points his dagger skyward and makes the following invocation:

Come, O Chasmaleem, servants of God! Surround, consecrate, and charge these candles with all the powers of abundant wealth. Come, O Chasmaleem, servants of God!

O Archangel TZADKIEL, O Archangel RAPHAEL, help thy humble servants! Consecrate and charge these candles with all the powers of abundant wealth. O Archangel TZADKIEL, O Archangel RAPHAEL, help thy humble servants!

I invoke the power of EL.  Consecrate these sigils for thy own name’s sake. By that most holy name EL, let it be thus!

ALL

So mote it be.

The Officiate then points his Air Dagger at one of the candles on the altar and overtop it draws four separate invoking pentacles of earth, and with each pentacle drawn the Officiate should vibrate the God name EL and then thrust the dagger point through the middle of each star. On the fourth pentacle the group should join in with vibrating the last EL. After the four pentacles have been formed, the Officiate then moves to the candle just clockwise to the completed one and repeats the operation of four stars and intonations. After all the candles have been so enchanted, all four main operators stand and retrieve their magickal implements from the altar and point them towards the operator directly across from them forming a cross over the altar and the candles lying there. The Officiate then leads the four operators in speaking this final affirmation, or the Officiate may opt to say this last part alone.

OFFICIATE

Money now, we plainly see

Is just one more form of energy.

These are formal offerings for success

In gratitude for what we now possess.

From now unto eternity,

Our will be done. So mote it be.

The magickal weapons are then replaced on the altar and the participants can now retrieve their candles (with their left hands). The group then begins to repeat the group mantra, as one by one, starting with the Officiate and moving clockwise, the statements and candles are placed on the altar and set alight. Depending on your temple space’s ability to accommodate a dining experience, you may opt to move the central altar to a different part of the temple (to make room on the table for food) before proceeding to place and light the candles. Like the Lunar offering before it, these candles should be allowed to burn to completing in ritual space, if not the night of, then completed when time allows. Regardless of the set-up for the process, once the lighting is complete each magician should then relax and attempt to trace out while staring into the candle flame and repeating the group mantra. There’s no way for the Manifestor to really know when each person has finally released the charge of their own candle, so at each participant’s own pace, they should make the Sign of Silence to finalize the operation. Then they are free to quietly excuse themselves from the table, or can sit quietly while continuing to make the Sign of Silence until everyone has finished. This marks the end of Stage 7.

STAGE 8

Operation: “Feasting with the Gods” Binah (Saturn)

For a number of reasons, this is a natural lull in the ritual’s operation, so it is a fine time to break and turn the conscious mind for a time to pleasant distraction (though the actual ritual is not yet over). This is the time for the Ambassador to consecrate some new bottles and for the participants to avail themselves of the potluck food and the company of friends. Though there is of course no guideline for this camaraderie, it would be appropriate for one or more of the Officiates (or the Ambassador) to bless the food before everyone partakes. Below are some prayers to honor deities of a correspondence to the evenings workings, but participants may also wish to make their own personal toasts, or find others ways of expressing “grace”. As a Thelemic ceremony it would also be appropriate for the Officiate to lead the group in a recitation of Will before everyone begins eating.

HEALTH – APOLLO (from http://www.templeapollo.com/callimachus.html)
None is so versatile in skill as Apollo.
He watches over the archer; he watches over the bard;
Phoebus’s are both the bow and song.
His are the prophets and prophetesses; from Phoebus
Physicians learn the skill of postponing death.

O great Apollo, might Phoebus

As the sun shines on us and gives us life

May you grant health to us all, that we may sing your praise!

STRENGTH – MARS

Homeric Hymn 8 to Ares (trans. Evelyn-White) (Greek epic C7th to 4th B.C.) (from http://astrologyheals.com/2011/11/11/to-mars-the-god-of-war-a-prayer-for-strength)

“Ares, exceeding in strength, chariot-rider, golden-helmed, doughty in heart, shield-bearer, Saviour of cities, harnessed in bronze, strong of arm, unwearying, mighty with the spear, O defender of Olympos, father of warlike Nike (Victory), ally of Themis, stern governor of the rebellious, leader of the righteous men, sceptred King of manliness, who whirl your fiery sphere [the star Mars] among the planets in their sevenfold courses through the aither wherein your blazing steeds ever bear you above the third firmament of heaven; hear me, helper of men, giver of dauntless youth! Shed down a kindly ray from above upon my life, and strength of war, that I may be able to drive away bitter cowardice from my head and crush down the deceitful impulses of my soul. Restrain also the keen fury of my heart which provokes me to tread the ways of blood-curdling strife. Rather, O blessed one, give you me boldness to abide within the harmless laws of peace, avoiding strife and hatred and the violent fiends of death.” (emphasis mine)

WEALTH/JOY – JUPITER (from https://vicdicara.wordpress.com/2010/08/03/ancient-prayer-to-jupiter-from-rg-veda/)

We call to the master of the planets, the wisest of the wise, the most famous master of religion, the master of priests! Hear us! Help us! Sit with us now.

Deathless Lord of the Vastness [Jupiter], the gods learn from you how to participate in holy ceremonies. As the light of the Sun creates the rays of the Moon, you create all religion. Chase away the gloom and hatred. Mount your chariot, which destroys foes, slays demons, frees the needy and finds the light..

Protect our bodies from harm. With your affection comfort us. Protect the gods and strike down the demons so that the unworthy do not obtain rewards. Grant us the wealth that all men want.

Through your blessings, O might King of the Gods, may we obtain joy everlasting.

PEACE – VESTA  (from http://romanpagan.blogspot.com/2014/06/prayer-to-vesta.html)

Domina of sacred rites, be watchful for our good.

Primordial mother, whose hearth lies at the centre of all,
And who protects those who gather ‘round your warmth.

Yours is the incorruptible fire;

As it is clean, it cleanses; as it is pure, it purifies.

Dispeller of cold and darkness,

We wish you joy, we do you reverence,

We pray that you protect this household.

And that this offering find favour with you.

Through your favor, O Goddess of the home and hearth, may we obtain peace profound.

OFFICIATE: Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

ALL: What is thy will?

OFFICIATE: It is my will to eat and to drink.

ALL: To what end?

OFFICIATE: That I may accomplish the Great Work.

ALL: Love is the law, love under will.

OFFICIATE: (knocks once) Fall to!

After dinner, as time allows, the host may provide other distractions, such as games or other group activities. Or the participants may just want to chat, but should refrain discussing any topics that may engage the conscious mind too much with thoughts of the earlier evening’s operations, as at this point the magicians should be trying to “set it and forget it”. It should fall to the Officiate to determine when it’s time to complete Stage 8, which should complete with a recitation of the Collect for the End.

“Why?” you may ask… Think about it this way. Magickal operations, such as the Pentagram rituals and the Middle Pillar cause the magician to “light up” on the astral plane, and this (relative) effect is likely amplified many times over given the scope of this particular operation’s ambition. While the magick circle (and angelic guardians) should keep any unwanted energy attracted by the working from entering the temple space, what of the countless lost spirits of the dead (many desperately seeking the Light) who are drawn to concentrations of spiritual energy for any number of reasons like moths to a flame. Some magicians (like those of us magicians of the Temple of the Western Gate) seek to use a combination of circumambulated astral light with some of the latest in ITC software to attempt to communicate directly with these spirits (and then sending everyone who wants it “home”).  A Ouija board may also be substituted for ITC tech, provided none of the participants harbor any negative prejudices concerning their use. In either respect, one magician performs the Greater Advanced Middle Pillar (to generate as much excess energy as possible the spirits can use to aid certain types of manifestation) while the rest of the magicians attempt to communicate (or aid with visualizations). And though uncommon, sometimes the spirit communications that come through may not exclusively be of human origin…

It seems unnecessary to go into details about this specific operation which is not directly related to the Thelemic Tea Ceremony, but suffice to say, it too ends with the (a slightly revised) Collect, which should be sufficient for the purposes of this ritual. If performed while focusing on calling down the column of light to act like a big neon arrow pointing the lost souls to their Heaven (Tiphareth) it can go a long way to clearing a room full of hopeful ghosts.

Collect for the End (from: www.scarletwoman.org/docs/docs_mass.html)

Unto them from whose eyes the veil of life hath fallen may there be granted the accomplishment of their true Wills; whether they will absorption in the Infinite, or to be united with their chosen and preferred, or to be in contemplation, or to be at peace, or to achieve the labour and heroism of incarnation on this planet or another, or in any Star, or aught else, unto them may there be granted the accomplishment of their wills; yea, the accomplishment of their wills.

AUMGN. AUMGN. AUMGN.

So mote it be.

Saint Michael, please guide them home, and unite them with their higher selves. Amen.

This marks the end of Stage 8.

STAGE 9

Operation: “Infinite Success” Chokmah (The Zodiac)

The temple space should be set up as before, and the participants all return to their original places. The Officiate then delivers this final prayer of thanks:

We humbly thank all ye creatures who have watched and joined in our ritual. Return ye now to your abodes and habitations, harming none on your way, to manifest in accordance with your proper power and position, these operations that we have set in motion congruent with the Will of our Higher Selves. And may there be peace between thee and we in this and all future operations.

And may the blessing of YEH-HAH-SHU-AH YEH-HOH-VAH-SHA as you are able to receive them, be upon thee. AUMGN, AUMGN, AUMGN!

The final group operation is now performed, but compared to the previous ones it should likely be a more laid back operation (appropriate for the end of the night). Each participant now relaxes, and those that have one should now direct their laser pointers to the sigil on the ceiling above the altar that has been there all night. Again, this sigil is created from the group mantra, and it is the mantra the group should repeat over and over as they trance out and trace the shape of the sigil over and over with the lasers. If you can imagine the light of Kether like the raining down of diamonds all evening, which we hold out cups to catch enough to perform our specific operations, then this sigil working should be akin to “sweeping up” the gifted yet unharnessed energy of the temple space and directing it to charge the group sigil (to a blinding glow), to once again “double down” on every single previous operation already performed in this working.

The mantra is repeated until once again the Maniestor knocks three times calling a close, this time though the sigil becomes completely charged when the rest of the energies of the room are “swept up” into it. When the Manifestor knocks three times on the table, the group should turn off the laser pointers, but continue to chant the group mantra. The Officiate then retrieves the sigil and tears a piece from it. The sigil is then passed around clockwise, and each practitioner should tear off a piece until the sigil pieces are distributed amongst all the participants. The manta continues as first the Officiate, then the magician to his left, and so forth begins the process of burning the scraps of paper and placing them in the proper receptacle. As the last piece of paper is burned the group should join hands and intone one last, extremely grateful, “AUMGN” as the energy raised up now goes forth to accomplish the will of the magicians.

The Officiate should now motion for the other three main operators to stand with him. They then (carefully) perform the following series of actions:

  • The Officiate retrieves his Air Dagger from the western side of the altar, points it at the altar and says: “AS BELOW, SO ABOVE.”
  • The Empowerer retrieves his Fire Wand from the northern side of the altar, points it skyward and says: “AS ABOVE, SO BELOW.”
  • The Harmonizer retrieves his Water Cup from the eastern side of the altar, points it at the altar and says “AS WITHOUT, SO WITHIN.”
  • The Manifestor retrieves his Earth Pentacle from the southern side of the altar, points it skyward and says: “AS WITHIN, SO WITHOUT.”
  • The Officiate then points his Air Dagger skyward and says “AS ABOVE, SO BELOW” before placing the dagger on the eastern side of the altar.
  • The Empowerer then points his Fire Wand at the altar and says “AS BELOW, SO ABOVE” before placing the wand on the southern side of the altar.
  • The Harmonizer then points his Water Cup skyward and says “AS WITHIN, SO WITHOUT” before placing the cup on the western side of the altar.
  • The Manifestor then points his Earth Pentacle at the altar and says “AS WITHOUT, SO WITHIN” before placing the pentacle on the northern side of the altar.
  • The Officiate then makes the Sign of the Portal (specifically the Closing of the Veil) while saying “AS AFORE, SO BEHIND. AS BEHIND… SO AFORE!”
  • After three long deep breaths, the Officiate completes the operation by saying “The Mortal Veil is again reformed; for it is we who art transformed.”

This resets the energy of the temple back to its “earthly” configuration and marks the end of Stage 9.

STAGE 10

Operation: “Closing” Kether (The All)

If the opening included the Hexagram ritual, the Officiate should now perform the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Hexagram.

The Officiate then performs the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram.

The Officiate then performs the Qabbalistic Ankh (though the shrinking/growing aspects are reversed).

Finally, the Officiate leads the group in the following:

OFFICIATE

Gates First and Second, Third and Fourth,

Are shut East and South and West and North.

Upon solid Earth we do now stand,

And there is peace throughout the land.

Lies told of lies are the only truth,

So let success e’er be our proof.

May our True Wills go forth unopposed,

As I declare this temple duly closed.

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

ALL

Love is the Law, love under will.

The Officiate then sounds the chime eleven times in the 333 55555 333 cadence. This marks the end of Stage 10 and the entire Thelemic Tea Ceremony.
