I know things are tough for many folks, but this week really seems like we’re feeling a shift in a positive direction. Some interesting stuff to report…

Aaron’s wrapped up the edits on the latest Adventure Hook episode and so now it’s live on Patreon. So I’ve updated the promo art accordingly…

This is good because Aaron’s had a lot on his plate lately, with a super big time announcement finally being announced today…

FYI Adventure Hook cohost @olmancampbell is relaunching #Hellblazer. Here is a link https://t.co/wGt1FdMj3N and here is Aaron’s promo art for the new series out this November. pic.twitter.com/iLcNeV5EYG— Adventure Hook (@adventure_hook) July 10, 2019

But, before wrapping these edits up, Aaron had us go back and re-record our banter segment where I explain the occult ideas behind Austin Osman Spare’s Alphabet of Desire, and how that relates to the Holy Hexagram we’ve been utilizing in past episodes.

While I know our first take probably covered all sorts of material I neglected to cover in the second, this retake is probably a more succinct explanation overall… and hopefully then does a lot more for the potential listener that finds themselves interested in magick.

But even that may pale in comparison to the seeds I planted in the next episode of Adventure Hook which Aaron and I also recorded this week. We finally rolled GM’s choice, and my choice was an experiment where I took the structure of an RPG Campaign Setting and used it as a vehicle to explore the deepest rabbit holes of conspiracy theory. I’ve titled the episode Full Disclosure.

Let it be my finest contribution towards Planetary Liberation to date!

Edits and show notes on that episode are on me (which I definitely prefer this time) and while I still have to mock up the promo image as well, I have a few fun ideas for that too. I have some time to get that wrapped up still, and we should also be releasing the “in-the-can” episode of Legend Lore we did while we were still recording stuff with the Red Moon Roleplaying guys before the final episode drops…

This week marks the release of the penultimate episode of To Baator and Back. It’s hard to believe they’re almost all out already, and while we continue to see a nice little bump in Blackspire listeners every time a new one comes out, but once the story actually wraps up with Episode 7 (and its thrilling “question-marked” ending) hopefully that’s when interest will really start kicking off…

Which as it turns out, timing probably couldn’t bee better, as this week it was announced that Red Moon Roleplaying has been nominated for a 2019 ENnie Award (sort of the Eisners for Tabletop RPGs) for Best Podcast! Those guys work really hard, and so this nomination is well deserved. I really think they have a good shot at winning (especially because I don’t think any of the other nominees are actual-play shows), but even being nominated is sure to bring them more love, and if any of their new listeners end up enjoying Baator in the process, so much the better.

While they haven’t really talked about those episodes on their Ask For the Moon Patreon Q&A show yet, it was nice to hear them still give me a plug when the question of developing an interest in the occult was brought up on their most recent episode. The occult-inspired KULT: Divinity Lost (sort of their “core game”) promps all kinds of interesting questions, and I daresay exploring the full arc of a character in that universe (from mundane, to occultist, to awakened) is kinda like a dream campaign for me to play in some day (provided I had the “right” GM of course)…

Still, the plug for my Reliquum YouTube channel was appreciated, and this might be what I need to nudge my subscribers to that magick number 777 this week…

I also managed to finish up the raw edits for the remainder of the White Hydra Adventures for the Blackspire Patreon page. While I still have to create the show notes for each, this gets my weekly releases covered until early September! So the $5 supporters are covered until then. I still have time to do more $10 stuff, and plenty of ideas as well… Jenny and I will be meeting with some of the new Season 2 players this week to get the wheels turning, and after that meeting I should know what to do next to set up the first of our recorded brainstorming sessions with them.

Plus there’s plenty of potential side session stuff for Jenny too…

But first, I’m working on something new, which I’m basically writing for her. See… this week I was also pleased to be invited to GM a game at the RPG Baltimore gaming convention being held next weekend. I’ve been teasing Jenny about running a session for her concerning her character’s initiation into the Cult of the Spire, and so the one-shot I’m putting together will play through that very scenario, but with the help of other thinking players driving it (which will feel way more authentic for what that stuff is all about).

While the event will be held at the Ottobar, and so the threat of noise level is high, my plan is to attempt to capture a recording of the game-play, and turn it into something for Patreon as well. Even if we don’t end up with anything actually “useful” from the day, at least Jenny will have had the experience, and at least it should have been fun/terrifying…

Here is there write up for the event that players at RPGB who sign up will see:

Blackspire RPG One Shot: Initiation Into the Cult of the Spire
-a Pathfinder game (with a few house rules) in a home-brew setting/pre-gen’ed in HeroLab

Join Robert Randle and his wife Jenny as they take a handful of brave players into the dark and terrible world featured on the Blackspire RPG Campaign Podcast! For any number of countless reasons, many a citizen of the city of Blackspire has sought to join the mysterious ranks of the infamous Cult of the Spire… which now extends to even include our Player Characters. What secret challenges, trials, and tests await our aspiring cultists as they seek to find their place this powerful organization? Can any of them hope to survive… Initiation?

This adventure may contain themes and situations that might be offensive to some participants. Mature player sensibilities are encouraged. Experience with the Pathfinder RPG system is preferred, but not required. Audio of this gaming session will be recorded, and potentially released as a “canon” episode on the Blackspire RPG Campaign podcast. Players will need to sign a (super simple) release form to participate.

I’ve also been plugging away (a bit at a time) at a new commission I’d received painting another religious icon. I really wanted to do a good job with this one, so at Jenny’s prompting I ended up getting a new set of paints (Vallejo 70.125 Face & Skintones [16] (Model Color Set) Acrylic Paints Skin Flesh) which I am really enjoying.

Vallejo have become my new favorite model paints in recent years, and this new set is a testament why. I still have plenty of ground still to cover before this crucifixion scene is finished, but I am off to a great start, thanks to these new paints…

I am seeing signs of things turning around for the better, especially for us, though a little boost of magick isn’t going to hurt…

Because this week the news perhaps showed us new evidence that our 144K mass meditations are working…

Full Disclosure and Planetary Liberation are at hand..!
